This position will lead and oversee a team of training and change management professionals responsible for rolling out large-scale, Specialty-wide initiatives. This strategic role focuses on building and driving an organizational change strategy that aligns with Markel Specialty’s objectives, fostering a culture of adaptability and resilience. Achievement of early employee adoption, optimized learning cycles, content development, efficient communication methods and training facilitation are the focus areas for this position. The Director will collaborate with senior leadership to define and communicate the vision for change, oversee the development of comprehensive training, communication and change frameworks, and ensure the team has the resources and support needed to drive successful adoption of new processes, technologies, and behaviors across the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement systems training programs to help with smooth roll out and adoption of system changes with a broad range of learning solutions including e-learning, virtual, and instructor led environments; maintain and proactively manage a library of content to support seamless onboarding of new hires
  • Direct the design and implementation of comprehensive training programs, ensuring the team produces high-quality instructional materials, guides, and support resources.
  • Collaborate across Specialty Operations, and specifically the Process Excellence team, to facilitate the implementation of redesigned processes and workflows with the goal of driving increased adoption and ROI
  • Lead the development of communication strategies to promote engagement, transparency, and understanding, guiding the team to create effective, targeted messaging for diverse stakeholders.
  • Develop and communicate a high-level change management vision that aligns with Markel Specialty’s and the Markel Group’s overall strategy and supports long-term organizational transformation.
  • Oversee the creation of change strategies and frameworks, ensuring they address stakeholder needs, minimize resistance, and drive employee adoption.
  • Partner with senior leadership to assess readiness, align priorities, and communicate the organization’s change vision effectively across business units.
  • Establish metrics to measure the effectiveness of change initiatives, using data to provide executive insights and drive continuous improvement within the change management function.
  • Serve as a senior advisor to leaders and managers across the organization, empowering them with the knowledge and tools to support their teams through change.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with change initiatives, directing the team to develop proactive strategies and solutions.
  • Drive post-implementation assessments to capture learnings and ensure the team continuously improves future change processes.
  • Lead and mentor a team of training and change management specialists, providing strategic guidance, performance feedback, and opportunities for professional growth.

Key Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience in training development, facilitation and change management
  • 5+ years of leadership experience, including managing teams and driving performance in change management initiatives.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and executing strategic change and communication plans across a large organization.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with and influence senior leaders to drive organizational transformation.
  • Experience with change management software and tools (e.g., ADKAR, Microsoft Teams, or similar platforms).
