Job Description:

The archivist coordinator will maintain the Modern Culture and Media (MCM) collection of 16mm films, DVDs, and digital media. This may include cleaning, upkeep, and arranging for proper storage of our celluloid and other media collections. This position will work in conjunction with the department manager, chair, and/or university librarian.

This fixed-term position involves researching offerings in media texts and technologies, organizing and maintaining media holdings for the archive, working with student projectionists, and facilitating the use of the Archive in courses and departmental and university film festivals, screening series, and other events.

This is a 2-month fixed-term on-site position (November – December 2024)

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 1 year of related experience in film, video, and digital media archiving, curation, and/or film preservation maintenance or the equivalent combination of education and experiences.  A Master’s degree is highly preferred for this short-term assignment.
  • Assist faculty/graduate students with materials for their classes, scholarly/creative projects, and/or events.
  • Demonstrated ability to support a community of diverse perspectives and cultures in an inclusive environment.
