What success looks like in this role:

  • Obtain an understanding of business needs and software requirements and architectures, data structures, testing strategies and other inputs from Product Owners, Business Analysts, Requirements Analysts, Requirements Analysts, Software Architects and Database Analysts;
  • Build and maintain the technical design (e.g. diagrams, flows and interfaces), the software's source code and other source code and other artifacts from the analysis and design, implementation and testing disciplines focused on COBOL programming language, according to the methodology in force;
  • Maintaining and developing Cobol applications for Unisys Mainframe platforms;
  • Defining functional and non-functional requirements;
  • Defining technical solutions, estimating effort and deadlines, ensuring delivery within the established schedule;
  • Acting in collaboration with the team on a daily basis to evaluate progress of activities and assess project risks, promoting a proactive approach to problem solving;
  • Contribute in a multidisciplinary way in order to help the team achieve its goals, actively participating in discussions and offering support whenever necessary;
  • Collaborate with other team members to promote good software development and maintenance practices, encouraging innovation and continuous improvement.

You will be successful in this role if you have:

  • Requires a Bachelor’s Degree (BS preferred) OR equivalent experience is required. • Typically requires no previous professional experience, however, may have 0-2 years of experience in coding and programming gained through internships and advanced coursework.
  • Application development using Cobol;
  • Automated unit and integration testing (TDD/ATDD) in COBOL routines;
  • BDD methodology;
  • Mainframe development environment Unisys, COMS, DMSII, SDF, CANDE(Nice to have)
  • Oral and written communication skills, in order to gather input and effectively report on the progress and results of their activities;
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of agile software development, including the Agile Manifesto, Scrum, Extreme Programming (XP) and Kanban;
