Fabletics is currently looking for a Colorist.

How Do You Fit In? 

The Colorist is a key player in helping to execute and maintain color quality and aesthetic. The right candidate will have a strong understanding of textiles, color, and prints. They should be extremely organized while able to prioritize and meet deadlines. The Colorist will join a fast-paced team with passionate and energetic individuals working together to continue to grow and strengthen the Fabletics brand. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, detail oriented, and passionate while maintaining positive working relationship with all cross-functional departments.


This position will report to the Sr. Director, Fabric Research & Development.    

What you will do:

  • Visually and digitally approve all lab dips, bulk and trim cards for multiple fabrications and product types from multiple vendors
  • Assist with running daily, weekly and bi-weekly status reports to ensure all color development is on track to meet development milestones
  • Communicate daily with overseas offices and factories
  • Ensure that all color approvals are updated in PLM
  • Ensure that the color development tracker is updated daily with color comments and any applicable tracking information
  • Keep color standard library organized and up to date
  • Assist with initiating color development for all raw materials
  • Assist with communicating seasonal color card ordering of color standards
  • Send packages with color standards, lab dip or trim cards as needed
  • Communicate and troubleshoot with mills and factories on various color development issues
  • Collaborate with Design, Merchandising, Product Development, Production and external vendors to effectively execute product
  • Maintain master color tracker
  • Advise on achievability of specific colors and dye methods on specific substrates
  • Communicate with mills, agents, vendors, color lab technicians to identify technical limitations on various substrates and finishes for colors, including color fastness and migration
  • Trouble shoot and challenge external parties to get the best color match
  • Coordinate all components in a single garment i.e. (multiple substrates, color blocking, trim, etc.)

What you can bring:

  • 3+ years of experience in print and color development
  • Bachelor’s degree in textile design or related field preferred
  • Superior score on the Farnsworth Munsell 100 Hue Test
  • Knowledge of spectrophotometers, CIE lighting standards, and AATCC review methods
  • Expertise in textile printing industry, including print techniques and repeat patterns
  • Able to advise Design and CAD Team on limitations for color, print and various techniques (Foil, Silicone Print) on fabrics before they are passed to Mill and Vendors
  • Knowledge of dyeing and printing techniques on activewear fabrics
  • Comprehensive understanding of color science and knowledge of how to communicate color effectively
  • Ability to communicate and troubleshoot with Mills and Factories on development  
  • Detail orientated with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to work in a faced paced environment
  • Proactive, adaptable with the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.

The annual base salary range for this position is from $68,640-$75,000. The range provided includes the base salary that Fabletics expects to pay for the role. Offered base salary will be dependent on factors including the scope and complexity of the role, candidate’s related work experience, subject matter expertise and work location.
