Primary Duties:Develops appropriate patient treatment plans consistent with established protocols of the organization; assists in the development of appropriate measures of clinical quality outcomes; coordinates the testing and treatment of assigned patients; monitors progress of patients and makes appropriate modifications to treatment plans; and provides patient care in a manner that supports positive patient satisfaction.
Educates and keeps patients and families aware of the disease, treatment plans, progress, and other pertinent information.
Ensures appropriate and timely documentation on patient charts and medical records.
Provides high-quality patient care in the field General Internal Medicine including methods for early diagnosis and treatment of infections in various hosts, methods for using the clinical and biologic heterogeneity of adult leukemia and lymphoma to increase the cure rate of these patients, developing innovative treatment strategies for acute myeloid leukemia; therapeutic interventions to advance the care of processes in individuals with HIV-related conditions.
Delivers, designs and develops high-quality education, coaching, counseling and training programs for interns, externs, residents, medical school students, fellows and other individuals to support the educational mission of the organization.
Develops and maintains a working relationship and promotes teamwork and cooperation among people and departments throughout the organization.
Attends and openly participates in Clinical Affairs staff meetings and other committees as assigned.
Ensures ongoing professional self development of self within the field of General Internal Medicine including specialties of Hematologic Oncology, Bone Marrow Transplantation, Solid Tumor/Investigational Therapeutics, Pulmonary Medicine, and Infectious Diseases.
Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs, safety and compliance standards.
Enhances professional growth and development by participating in educational programs, reading current literature, and participating in in-service meetings and workshops.
Prepares written documentation as required by the profession and the department; maintains, distributes, analyzes and projects information for required records, reports and statistics as directed.
Attends meetings as required.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Other Descriptive Elements:
The Staff Physician (Internal Medicine) typically reports to the Clinical Chair. The incumbent has the authority to make decisions or commitments that require interpretation of the organization’s policies and procedures. More difficult decisions may be referred to superiors for their recommendations. Decisions are varied and based on broad principles and guidelines.
Salary range is $225,000 - $332,053.00 which includes a comprehensive benefits package.
Qualifications:
Required Education and ExperienceLicense and Certification Requirement
1. License or permit to practice as a Medical Doctor in the State of New York.
2. Possession of or eligibility for a valid medical specialty certificate in General Internal Medicine, Family Practice or other related medical specialty.
Education and Experience
Medical Doctor degree in the field of General Internal Medicine.
NOTE: Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited school, college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.
