Who we’re looking for

To excel in this role, you’ll need to be a self-starter who is ready to perform on day one. Reporting directly to the Head of Growth, you will help continue to drive success with the momentum already created.  You will play a role in ensuring high quality execution across engagements and driving growth efforts across the organization.

What you’ll be doing

As a leader in the Market, your role is centered around driving the business growth as we expand in this new market and develop Embarks footprint in untapped sectors. You will be leaned upon to keep Embark and Embarkers congruent with the Embark way. The Market Leader serves as a local leadership presence to perpetuate the Embark culture in every aspect of the business. We look to you to care for the team, our clients, and your community.

Growth

  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop and enhance service offerings based on market feedback and trends

  • Leverage an existing network of industry contacts to generate new business opportunities

  • Build meaningful relationships with executives and key decision makers, through cold-calling, network events, and other lead generation activities

  • Execute consultative sales strategies to understand the clients’ business needs and align Embarks solutions with their objectives

  • Provide accurate sales forecasts and report on actives, successes, and challenges to leadership

  • Stay abreast of industry developments, competitive landscape, and emerging technologies to position Embark strategically in the marketplace

  • Meet or exceed sales targets for the Market

People

  • Care for your team

  • Hold yourself and the team accountable for taking care of each other

  • Build relationships with the team to allow you to effectively establish meaningful coaching trees - ensuring support and growth for each team member

  • Coach, mentor and develop your team, including holding recurring coaching conversations with the coaching tree leads and any of your direct coachees

  • Partner with the People Operations team to educate your team on the policies and processes in place to cultivate a safe and healthy environment

  • Partner with the People Development team to facilitate ongoing growth opportunities (including, but not limited to technical and skills trainings) for your team through the framework of Whole Human Development [Professional, Emotional, Physical, Social, Spiritual, Psychological, and one additional focus area established by each individual]

  • Partner with the Hospitality team to infuse elements of genuine care into the everyday lives of your team regardless of the clients they serve (internal vs. external)

  • Partner with the Operations team to ensure our offices are equipped with the necessary space, technology, and snacks to fuel excellent execution by all members of the team

  • Partner with Execution leaders to uphold expectations for your consulting team members and provide feedback on the impact by those team members being considered for promotion

  • Partner with the Talent team to identify individuals in the market that embody our core values and are aligned with the culture Embark is continuing to build

  • Bring your team together on an established cadence to effectively communicate upcoming firm-wide updates, initiatives, events, wins, problems to solve, and growth opportunities, as well as market-specific announcements

Execution

  • Care for our clients

  • Hold yourself and the team accountable for engagement success and exceeding client expectations

  • Partner with the Execution Operations team to build incredible engagement teams that set our clients up for success

  • Partner with the Growth team to ensure our clients are receiving clear and consistent communication from their Client Success team (Execution + Growth)

  • Ensure adherence to the Embark Project Lifecycle, including the continuous infusion of hospitality

  • Support the economic health of our engagements by reviewing timesheets, invoices, expense reimbursements, and accounts receivable balances

  • Champion the growth of our engagement teams through on-the-job development and feedback

  • Reinforce and validate the value of the consultant mindset on every engagement

  • Understand and lead service recovery efforts alongside the Client Success team

  • Embrace challenging conversations with candor and compassion

  • Lead with humility and fire, focusing on building up those around you

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 13 years of experience in accounting advisory or consulting services, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. CPA or other relevant professional certification required. Or a minimum of 10 years’ experience in enterprise or consulting sales, with a successful track record of selling to C-level executives.

  • Proven experience leading and managing large, diverse teams of professionals, including managing directors and consultants. Strong coaching and mentoring skills, with a commitment to developing teams and talent.

  • Demonstrated ability to build and sustain relationships with senior leadership, executives, and key decision-makers. Proven success in identifying client needs and delivering tailored solutions that drive value.

  • Strong business development skills with a track record of driving growth in a professional services environment. Ability to develop and execute a strategic vision for the practice.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills. Ability to work effectively across different teams and lead collaborative, cross-functional efforts.

  • A proactive approach to problem-solving, with the ability to manage and resolve conflicts efficiently. Experience handling both internal team issues and external client service challenges, ensuring minimal disruption to service delivery and maintaining strong client relationships.

  • Demonstrated experience in developing new markets and establishing a presence in previously untapped areas.

  • A large, active network of industry contacts, with a history of converting relationships into business opportunities.

  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to engage and influence senior executives.

  • Proven ability to self-motivate, work independently, and maintain a high level of discipline in sales activities.
