The Opportunity:

This position directs project management efforts to implement change successfully, promptly, and efficiently. Manage highly complex projects and will establish and direct efforts of the project team and related resources to successfully plan, develop, test, and implement assigned projects. Assume total leadership for assigned events on behalf of the Sponsor, and are responsible for project organization, planning, and issue resolution.

 

Day in the Life:

  • Provide project management expertise, which includes leading various highly complex projects.
  • Meet with business unit leadership and various stakeholders to review and determine project requirements, and necessary specifications, plans for testing, support, and training, and established timeline and budget.
  • Manage projects utilizing Velera project management standards; Manage utilizing Agile, Waterfall, and other methodologies as required.
  • Coordinate completion of various integration elements of assigned projects, including: project plan development and execution, and overall change control; develop project plans to include full project scope/charter from initiation, work-breakdown structure, planning, definition, verification, and change control.
  • Ensure projects are completed within established time and budget schedules, including activity definition, activity sequencing, and activity duration estimations; ensure completion of resource planning, cost estimations, and cost budgeting and control; monitor and manage the critical path; manage scope, timeline, resources, and financial aspect.
  • Ensure projects satisfy the needs for which they were undertaken by including quality planning, assurance, and control; Ensure people chosen for the project team are used most effectively through organizational planning, staff acquisition, and team development.
  • Provide proactive communication to project stakeholders related to projects, their risks, and steps being taken to mitigate these risks.
  • Manage large-scale technology projects (software/hardware) and multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Utilizes excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to gain consensus through mediation, find innovative solutions to challenges, and identify issues and provide potential solutions.
  • Partner with Team members to develop effective resolutions to project issues; collect and monitor service performance ratings on issue resolution to ensure compliance with set standards.
  • Monitor the progress of all change events and assist in the resolution of issues and delays impacting the successful conclusion of the project.
  • Monitor, control, update, and coordinate changes to existing programs and projects; Provide reports summarizing project status to project stakeholders; manage all project documentation including status reports, project charter/scope, risks, RACI, change request, project close, action items, issues list, lessons learned and health; maintain up-to-date project schedule and status using Velera approved tools; track defects and resolution through sprints or project phases.
  • Critique completed projects to determine variations from established processes and identify opportunities for process improvement.
  • Serve as project lead on projects with multiple project management staff.
  • Resolve issues arising from requests to change business specifications or defined tasks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Five (5) years of related project management experience required.
  • Experience in systems or financial services environment, card payments, banking, contact center, new product development, information technology or process re-engineering preferred. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems, Business Management, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • PMP certification preferred.
  • Proficiency in project management, Microsoft Project, Visio, word processing, and spreadsheet computer software applications.
  • Experience with project management methodologies including Agile and Waterfall.
  • Ability to travel as needed, less than 25%.

Pay Equity

$84,900.00

$108,200.00

Actual Pay will be adjusted based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
