Major Duties:

  • As a Health Scientist, you will: Provide consultation on scientific and technical issues. Formulate and develop program policy and guidance. Plan science-based strategies for the management and delivery of public health clinical and program services multi-disciplinary program to promote health equity for racial/ethnic and gender minorities, women, incarcerated populations and other disproportionately affected populations. Support and conduct research related to health equity.

Qualifications: All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. Minimum Qualifications: To qualify at the GS-15 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-14 grade level, which must include the following experience: formulating and developing program policy and guidance, developing and implementing strategies and providing scientific and technical guidance for health equity promotion and activities related to infectious diseases. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
