The Oregon State Police in Salem, Oregon is hiring for one (1) Full-Time, Limited Duration Human Resource Analyst 1 positions—expecting to end on or before 06/30/2027. The Limited Duration appointment may be extended beyond this date or may end prior to this date, based upon funding.

Summary of Job Duties:

Oregon State Police Human Resources has a structure that involves pairing our Human Resources Coordinators with a Senior Human Resources Managing Partner. Together they work in specialized areas such as complex leave management, training and development, workforce inclusion, or work as generalists in an assigned area of the agency to support multiple and diverse program areas.  With this pairing, you will be mentored, coached, challenged, and assisted in developing foundational skills and core competencies for Human Resources career growth.  This position will assist in the management of the Department’s personnel program in such a manner as to ensure compliance with laws, rules, and policies of the Federal and State Governments.  Additionally, this position will work to ensure personnel actions taken by management are in compliance with the collective bargaining agreements in force, if applicable.  The previous HR Coordinators have promoted into higher level positions, which demonstrates the potential for career advancement here at OSP.

Minimum Qualifications/Eligibility Requirements:

A bachelor’s degree in human resource management, Organizational Behavior or Development, Business or Public Administration, the Applied Behavioral Sciences, Industrial Relations or a job-related course of study determined by the appointing authority;

OR

Valid Certification as a Professional in Human Resource awarded by the Human Resource Certification Institute, and one-year Human Resource experience;

OR

Three years Human Resource paraprofessional or technical-level experience.

The State Certified Human Resources Professional (SCHRP) certification, awarded by the Oregon Chief Human Resources Office, substitutes for six months of human resource professional-level experience.

Valid Certification as a SHRM Certified Professional awarded by a nationally recognized organization, substitutes for one year of human resource professional-level experience.

Note: If you are selected to move forward in the selection process, you must provide official transcripts from all institutions of higher education that were used in the award of your degree.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in database management such as Excel, Access and Visio or SQL or HR Information Systems (HRIS)

  • Experience in at least one Human Resources function such as Recruitment and Selection, Protected Leave, Salary Implementation and Administration and/or Classification of positions

  • Experience writing, editing, and/or analyzing reports.

  • Experience assisting customers in the interpretation of laws, rules or policies.

  • General understanding of labor laws such as AA/EEO, OSHA, FMLA and OFLA leaves
