As the Regional EHS Lead, this role will play a key role in establishing a leading EHS culture to all JM operations and functions within the region. This role acts as a face of EHS to the region, with primary support for manufacturing sites, technology centres and offices.

The ideal candidate will be able to work independently with a hands-on approach while ensuring EHS alignment between site, sector and group, ensuring compliance with internal JM requirements, regulatory requirements and applicable legal requirements.

The candidate will also be expected to contribute to and support Group EHS and global business unit initiatives.

Your responsibilities:

  • Drive EHS Excellence: Deliver sustainable improvements in EHS performance across the region, ensuring a standardized approach and compliance with all applicable regulations.
  • Provide EHS Leadership: Offer strategic EHS guidance to regional personnel, identify trends in health and safety data, and provide clear feedback to management at all levels.
  • Collaborate for Improvement: Partner with Operations, Technology, and Functional leaders to assess safety processes, systems, and culture, and develop local improvement plans.
  • Represent Johnson Matthey Externally: Engage with external regulatory agencies and stakeholders, promoting the company's commitment to EHS and addressing regulatory risks.
  • Lead EHS Initiatives: Oversee internal audits, develop EHS Improvement Plans, and ensure effective communication and coordination of EHS programs across the region.
  • Foster a Healthy Workplace: Promote Industrial Hygiene and Occupational Health programs to address work-related health issues and ensure a holistic approach to employee well-being.

Requirements for the role:

  • Strong Leadership: Proven ability to lead, coach, and mentor others within a fast-paced environment.
  • Technical Expertise: Degree in a relevant technical or safety discipline, with 7-10 years of industry experience, and in-depth knowledge of People Safety, Process Safety, and environmental management.
  • Chemical Industry Experience: Demonstrated experience working in the chemical industry with a working knowledge of hazardous chemicals.
  • Effective Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Project Management: Proven project management skills, including successful delivery of projects within a matrix organization.
  • Collaboration and Influence: Ability to build strong relationships, collaborate effectively across diverse groups, and participate in cross-functional teams.
