The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As an Application Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
- Leads technical interactions with customers to understand their needs, gathering their feedback and translating their requirements into product requirements.
- Determines if existing 3M solutions meet customer needs, or if a new product will be needed.
- Works with 3M’s global product development team to develop and commercialize products using customer feedback.
- Supports winning business through data driven interactions with customers. Developing customer specific application relevant data packages and information.
- Willingness to be available to meet demanding customer needs.
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Science or Engineering (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
- Two (2) years of experience in gathering product information, data collection, and/or translating to product requirements in a private, public, government or military environment.
- Three (3) years of experience in the field of Copper Interconnects (Cables/Connectors/Assemblies in a private, public, government or military environment.
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
- Masters degree or higher in mechanical or electrical engineering.
- Two years of experience with electronics customers, preferably in Data Center Market.
- Skills include product and technology development, customer application engineering, and global experience.
- Strong process and statistical thinking approach.
- Strong key account/customer experience directly engaging with VOC and insights related activity.
- Strong technical capabilities combined with a strong technical network.
- Strong ability to engage and influence divisional (marketing/technical) personnel.
- Open and collaborative style partnering with key stakeholders.
- Understanding of electrical signal integrity.
- Ability to create CAD mechanical drawings/designs.
Work location: Hybrid Eligible (Job Duties allow for some remote work but require travel to 2680 Zanker Rd, Suite 2-6, San Jose, CA 95134 at least 2-3 days per week)
Travel: May include up to 50% domestic/international
Relocation Assistance: May be authorized
