Job Scope
We are currently looking for a dynamic individual to step into the Category Lead – Chemical & Raw Materials role at our global headquarters in The Woodlands, TX. As the Category Lead, you are responsible for the execution of Huntsman’s Americas regional procurement strategy as it relates to raw chemicals & raw materials manufacturing and supply for Huntsman’s Advanced Materials manufacturing facilities. The role will manage the procurement’s strategies of chemicals for the assigned purchasing portfolio, within the set purchasing policies and guidelines, to ensure an optimal, uninterrupted and timely supply in line with the objectives of the business stakeholders. This includes supplier relationship management and contract development to ensure security of supply. It will also continue to drive strategic sourcing methodology that drives a culture of agility, collaboration and optimization building a strong supply base for the controlled materials. In addition, this position will manage the day-to-day KPI’s, data management and performance improvement.
As the Category Lead, Chemical Raw Materials you will:
- Collaborate with Americas Business and Procurement leadership to develop and maintain strategic sourcing and category management strategies while ensuring productive multi-level supplier relationships.
- Support the Procurement Director by collecting and analyzing the business requirements, key cost drivers, supplier capabilities and industry trends to develop and implement category sourcing strategies that will optimize overall value for Huntsman while ensuring supply and quality.
- Develop and maintain stakeholder relationships across the Americas region to ensure business alignment with the category sourcing strategy and ensure continuous improvement of supplier performance.
- Create and negotiate supply agreements and contracts within the mandate and in line with internal procedures, terms and conditions, expected service levels, quality requirements and financial conditions. Ensure proper contract management.
- Identify new raw material sources where appropriate and drive approval through respective processes. Troubleshoot inbound raw material supply chain constraints
- Develop alternative suppliers on key product lines, working closely with technical team through the qualification process.
- Collect and analyze relevant data to provide meaningful market intel and insights to develop category sourcing strategies. Use key sourcing tools and techniques in line with the approved strategic sourcing methodology.
- Understand and use key financial indicators (TCO, EBITDA, ROI, payment terms, saving measures, etc.) to help make better business decisions.
- Develop and track project action plans to ensure projects are delivered on time and with expected results.
- Develop, maintain and review key business reports (e.g. KPI measures, project reporting, savings reporting, etc.) that provide meaningful insights to stakeholders and management. Track and develop vendor performance and vendor relationships.
Required Qualifications:
You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.
The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in the United States.
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Purchasing and Supply Chain, Finance, Business Administration or Engineering with 4-8 years related experience in the field of Strategic Sourcing and Procurement in the Chemical Industry.
- Strong understanding of procurement and sourcing tools and process (SAP, Ariba, etc).
- Strong understanding of Microsoft Office package. Strong knowledge of data management and data analytics/market intelligence information to drive strategies.
- Strong understanding of commercial contract negotiation and terminology.
- Professional level of English language skillset is required (additional languages may be required/preferred depending on region).
- Experience with Sourcing/Procurement tools and methodologies, RFI, RFQ, RFP, Bids Evaluations, cost models, strong negotiation skills for pre and post contract award.
- Root cause analysis, decision making process, stakeholder relationship management, supplier performance management, and problem-solving skills and experience are required.
- Leadership skills: demonstrated experience driving positive results through teams in a challenging and fast-paced environment. Ability to positively influence, coach, and lead others to drive change and performance across teams.
- Ensure good cross collaboration and alignment with internal stakeholders, ensuring collective target objectives are achieved.
- Flexibility and adaptability to new situations and/or dynamic organizational priorities is critical for job success.
- An aptitude for analytical thinking and analysis is critical to job success.
- An aptitude for both strategic and creative thinking is critical to job success.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional Supply Chain and Purchasing certification, such as SCMP, CPSM, CPSD, CPSQ, etc. will be a plus.
- Knowledge of chemical raw materials and feedstocks, Huntsman businesses and markets is a plus.
