Description
ConocoPhillips Canada is seeking a student majoring in Geology who will have the opportunity to practice and develop their geological interpretation skills in a company that is committed to technology and personal development. The successful candidate will join our multi-disciplinary teams based in Calgary, Alberta for a work term from May – August 2025.
The student will assist in the characterization of the unconventional Montney asset to support development planning, completion design, and pad performance. The student will use well data, seismic, and core to understand reservoir variability and impact. They will gain experience in Petrel software by interpretation of well logs and maps, and database management (Studio). They will be expected to summarize their workflow, interpretation, and learnings with a final presentation to the reservoir characterization team to aide in new pad development. Other project work may include interpretation of key stratigraphic tops, core data analysis, and integration of information to the overall geologic framework of the area.

Required Qualifications
Pursuing a degree in Geology
A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale
Must be returning to study at a post-secondary institution following work term
Proficient (ability to perform the skill with limited assistance) in Microsoft Products Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Must be legally authorized to work in Canada on a regular full-time basis without restrictions
Preferred Qualifications
Basic geoscience understanding (well log signatures, how sedimentary systems are formed, and Formation top interpretation)
Basic understanding of unconventional resource plays
Some exposure to mapping systems like Petrel, ArcMap, Accumap
Ability to use a practical approach when analyzing problems
Must possess good communication and organizational skills
