Scope:

Perform duties to construct base units and related subassemblies of any size and configuration, in conformance with job specifications, as the foundation for the installation of additional systems in HVAC units, working in compliance with instructions, prescribed routines, methods, and practices and making minor decisions as required.

Essential Functions:

  • Work from bill of materials (BOM), prints, drawings, work instructions, work schedule, and specifications.

  • Validate part numbers, revisions, and quantity, and inspect parts for damage. Examine assembly drawings for ensure they match BOM. Notify area Lead or Supervisor of any out-or-compliance parts or component failures.

  • Sub-assemble cassette, install insulation, attach limit switch zip ties to wires, and install pressure tubes.  Move onto base unit with crane and bolt into place.

  • Sub-assemble blower; install motor, sheet metal parts, pulleys, belts, and other components as required. Move to base unit with crane and bolt into place.

  • Construct base, inspect, install, fit, and fasten defined components and panels in place, including motors, sheet metal parts and panels, pulleys, belts, blowers, heaters, condensing units, DX coils, react coils, and similar subassemblies. Assemble and fasten base rails. Install gaskets, heaters, seals, tubing, pipes and other components. Install drain pans, dampers and plumbing according to assembly drawings and specifications defined by Engineering.

  • Square the base and install and fasten floor panels. Insulate, assemble, and seal bulkheads.

  • Inspect the quality of the base unit and installed components, and move into work-in-process staging area for subsequent production operations.

Other Duties:

  • Perform or assist with any operations, as required to maintain workflow and to meet schedules and quality requirements.

  • Maintain work areas in a clean and orderly condition. Consistently operate in keeping with all safety rules and requirements.

  • Participate in any variety of meetings and work groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems, and maintain specified level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements, and policies.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Tools and Equipment:

Use hand tools, hand-held electrical and pneumatic tools, clamps, crane, tape measure, silicone gun, pallet jack, and protective devices.

Physical Demand:

  • Frequently push with up to 120 lbs. of force.
  • Occasionally push and pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequently lift and carry up to 55 lbs.
  • Frequently stand, walk, bend, crouch, kneel, climb, maneuver, stoop, squat, grasp, and reach.
