Job Description
Essential Job Functions:
• Registers and schedules LCPC-TCP patients for appointments. Obtains all demographic and financial information from patient to complete registration process. Accurately creates and updates registration data.
• Accurately schedules patients for all LCPC-TCP locations according to guidelines and needs of patients. Responsible for understanding the distinctions in each location, able to work within varying guidelines. Adds detailed documentation to visit notes.
• Communicates clearly with families what is required for each visit and provides guidance on arrival time and traveling advice.
• Able to quickly adapt to changing scheduling guidelines.
• Serves as resource to all incoming calls. If not a scheduling request, routes calls according to caller’s need. If call for nursing, able to differentiate between routine, urgent, and emergent caller needs.
• Verifies insurance eligibility when scheduling the patient visit. Identifies need for insurance authorization or referral and instructs family to obtain insurance authorizations for service when needed.
• Identifies patients who have outstanding balances and prompts for payment. Assists family if financial assistance is needed.
• Works with family, Patient Account Liaison, and Patient Service Representative teams to avoid and/or resolve issues around insurance denials.
• Completes registration for daily rounding log.
• Monitors daily appointment reminder and recall reports. Updates patient appointment data according to changes indicated.
Staggered working hours:
Hours will vary
Opening shift of 7:45am, 8:00AM or 9am.
Closing shift of 10:45-7:15pm.
Occasional weekend meetings
Minimum Requirements
1, High school diploma required. Some college preferred.
2. Some knowledge of medical terminology, third party billing, and managed care requirements strongly preferred.
Some knowledge of electronic medical record.
3. Proficient in Microsoft Word applications such as Outlook and other computer skills preferred.
4. Demonstrates a high level of customer service and interpersonal skills to effectively work with pediatric patients, families, physicians, nursing and other allied health and medical center personnel. Excellent communication/listening skills needed.
Problem solving skills and ability to handle multiple priorities in fast paced environment.
5. Ability to manage stressful situations appropriately.
