40Position Summary
The Morley lab is located in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Infectious Diseases, and we research the host immune response to pathogenic infections. We use a variety of in vivo mouse models (transgenic and knock-out lines), tissue culture, and immunological and biochemical methods (ELISA, flow cytometry, immunoblot, etc.) to define molecular mechanisms governing lung immunity.This position will assist lab staff with mouse handling and mouse procedures, including infections and sample collections. Will also assist other staff or independently perform standard wet lab techniques, such as ELISAs, flow cytometry, or immunoblots. Attention to detail and accurate record-keeping are essential.
Assists with the technical aspects of studies and experiments, including documentation and preparation of materials.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Assists with research studies, experiments and assays, including collection of data, preparation of solutions and setup and maintenance of equipment.
Performs animal (mouse) procedures.
Performs data entry and maintains complete, organized, accurate and timely data files on research.
Prepares tissue cultures, reagents, probe tests, etc. Anticipated lab procedures include cell stimulations, ELISAs, flow cytometry, bead-based flow assays, immunoblots, and bacterial plating.
Complies with established safety procedures and maintains required documentation on laboratory and specimen conditions.
Ensures lab conditions and equipment are properly cleaned and maintained in accordance with established procedures.
Assists with general lab maintenance and cleaning.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions:
This position works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards.
The individual must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals.
