The ADOSS should have an advanced background in managing and leading a team during times of any Security, Medical or Fire incidents and/or accidents. The ADOSS will be required to respond to any major critical incident that may occur on the property in the absence of the Director of Safety & Security (DOSS). He / She would then be responsible in effectively communicating with the project’s senior management team and advising Discovery Land Company’s (DLC) Security V.P. of any major incident that may have occurred. In the absence of the DOSS if necessary, the ADOSS will engage with local Emergency Services Teams to help resolve the incident as quickly and professionally as possible.Key Responsibilities
- Support the DOSS coordinate and jointly lead emergency response efforts alongside emergency management directors, elected officials, nonprofits, and government agencies.
- Assist DOSS in overseeing the creation and implementation of plans for the development of contingency plans for hazardous materials and organization of exercises that simulate mobilizing and deploying emergency responders and resources (meetings with local emergency services agencies).
- Assist DOSS with input in making critical decisions about a project’s safety and security budget
- Support the DOSS in assessing the preparedness levels for various disasters and devise plans that fill in readiness gaps
- Assist in the creation and implementation of plans for; Preparedness (steps taken to get ready for an impending emergency and lessen its impact), Response (immediate actions taken after an emergency to save lives and protect property) and Incident Command Structure, Planning and Training
- Assist with creating and updating emergency preparedness and response plans that ensure DLC Projects can handle emergencies such as, Civil unrest (potential protestors, large groups of people wanting to access property from public streets), Public health crises (how to manage public health recommendations on property-COVID as an example), Terrorism (intentional acts of vandalism, or violence aimed at a project), Natural disasters (fires, hurricanes, tsunamis, etc.) and Medical Evacuations from remote locations (preordination with PATRONUS, Insurance companies, hospitals, MEDEVAC plane and helicopter companies)
- Other Tasks as assigned
Skills
- Ability to serve on committees designed to deal with issues such as emergency planning and organize large-scale programs, both of which call for strong leadership skills.
- Ability to communicate well with the DOSS, the Security Team, all levels of club Management and the DLC Corporate Security Team.
- Ability to assess the preparedness levels for various disasters and devise plans that fill in readiness gaps
- Ability to critically examine resources and measure and provide input on how best to use them.
- Ability to lead by example and gain the trust of the teams they lead.
- Ability to foster working relationships with different agencies,
- Ability to express themselves clearly to advocate for policy proposals and budgets
- Ability to lead practice exercises and training that call for strong communication skills.
- Ability to make good decisions, and it is expected that he/she ask questions, if possible, about something they are unsure of.
- Ability to project a clear vision and act decisively Must able be to lead and coordinate with multiple departments.
- Must inspire trust, integrity, confidence, and cooperation amongst all.
Qualifications
- Minimum of a High School Diploma and a college degree, in a related discipline preferred.
- Prior experience in related Public Safety, Law Enforcement, Military, or extensive Hospitality Security preferred.
- Experience and/or credentials in Emergency Management preferred.
- Prior leadership or managerial level experience required.
- Experience in project management and coordination role preferred.
- Previous experience or working knowledge of large property security operations, resort or private residential community operations is preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal English required and Bi-lingual in Spanish preferred.
- Emergency management experience or credential.
- Advanced level knowledge of security systems management, including access control, CCTV and Security Operations Center operations.
- Security, Law Enforcement or Military management of 5 years or more of experience preferred.
- Professional, articulate and can use good, independent judgment and discretion.
- Ability to interact with all levels of club management, members, and guests.
- Ability to draft and produce comprehensive assessments or other documentation when required.
- Security management experience to include critical incident response and large group events.
- Experience in the development of departmental governance and operational policies and procedures.
- Experience in building, training, motivating and influencing others

- Must be able to work flexible work hours/schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Long hours may be required due to business demands.
- Ability to work in a team environment.

- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; additional languages preferred.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, standing, walking, and moving for periods of greater than eight (8) hours, and lifting and carrying items sometimes greater than fifty (50) pounds.
