Job Summary:

The Success Program Transition Coordinator at Northeastern Illinois
University for Proyecto Pa’Lante and Project Success is a full-time
position that is primarily responsible for working with and supporting
Proyecto Pa’Lante and Project Success students who are interested
in attending NEIU. This position requires excellent customer service
skills, as it will regularly interface with students and liaison with
university staff, high school counselors/coaches, parents and other
collaborators across NEIU and outside of the university; and will
consult with the staff in the Admissions Office, the Financial Aid
Office and the Advising Office. Proficiency with computer
applications is a must and ability to use technology to enhance the
student experience is required. This person should be
knowledgeable of the admissions and onboarding process, be
knowledgeable about Placement/Orientation dates, Summer Bridge
Programs and be able to answer basic financial aid questions and
make referrals. This position requires flexible scheduling as some
evenings and occasional weekends are required. Competency and
fluency speaking, reading and writing in English is required and a
demonstrated ability to converse comfortably with various
constituencies. It is required that the coordinator fluently read, write
and speak in Spanish.

Job Description:

Liaison for Proyecto Pa’Lante and Project Success to the university

Admissions Office and other constituencies:

  • Regularly visits high school campuses for ongoing outreach and partnership with NEIU feeder high schools

  • Communicate with admissions coordinator at NEIU regarding on campus high school visits and attend events such as NEIU Open Houses to do presentations/workshops about the program and its offerings.

  • Coordinate and Schedule Informational Sessions, coordinates culturally relevant Family Days for admitted students and collaborates with other campus constituencies such as Admissions and the Pedroso Center.

  • Answers questions for families, including those who are bilingual and/or monolingual Spanish speakers about the overall college experience.

  • Maintains appropriate database systems and generates reports.

  • Assists students with the verification of student and parent application information and makes referrals to financial aid when needed.

  • Assists students with obtaining transcripts.

  • Fluency in Spanish is a requirement.


Registration and Intake Advisor:

  • Coordinates and implements processes and systems in accordance with the registration of students.

  • Ensures the accuracy, integrity, security and confidentiality of student academic records.

  • Informs students about general university policies and procedures related to general education inquiries, prerequisites for courses and major program requirements.

  • Responsible for collecting, recording, maintaining and reporting of student records within FERPA guidelines.

  • Works collaboratively with the staff in Enrollment Services, Financial Aid, Advising and Scholarship Offices.

  • Assists admitted students with scheduling Placement and Orientation Dates

  • Assists with making phone calls to Admitted Students regarding Next Steps to Enrollment
     

Other Responsibilities:

  • Assists with overall operation of Northeastern Illinois University Proyecto Pa’Lante and Project Success programs and provides customer service assistance/technical assistance in the reception area when needed for faculty, students, and the community at large.

  • Performs other duties as directed or assigned by the Directors.

  • Serve on university committees and task forces

Minimal Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree. A total of one (1) year (12 months) in education, training and/or work experience in the area of specialization inherent to the position. (Note: Master’s Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year of work experience.) Based on position requirements, additional education, training, and/or work experience in the area of specialization inherent to the position, may be required.

Salary: $54,600

Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (Hours may vary depending on departmental needs)
