What to Expect?

Identifies and negotiates strategic relationships with current customers and develops new business relationships.

On a daily basis our Product Specialist:

  • Serve as an expert in selling tile, chemicals and building material products related to wholesale customers.

  • Establishes relationships with customers by understanding their business needs and secures orders from existing and potential customers by means of visiting the customer facility or contacting by phone.

  • Maintains technical and computer capability to effectively use contact management, distribution and office software.

  • Establishes individual dealer pricing and accurately matrixes individual customer pricing into prelude.

  • Reviews Pool Digest for product use by each customer’s account.

  • Communicates pricing, product updates, deliveries and returns with appropriate departments (operations, credit, purchasing, etc.).

  • Maintains communication with customers by notifying them of price increases, industry news and sales leads.

  • Handles complaints or situations that may arise involving pricing, delivery/shipping errors, returns, etc. and resolves these issues in a timely and satisfactory manner.

  • Researches and studies the market to stay aware of competitive situations. Gathers competitive information and other market information regularly while interacting cooperatively with other members of the distribution team.

  • Assists operations and purchasing departments with inventory control by providing timely communication regarding new business needs or reduced or lost business.

  • Remains current on product and industry knowledge by attending sales meetings, vendor training and trade shows, or reading trade journals.

  • Travels throughout assigned territory (50% to 60% of time) to call on regular and prospective customers to solicit orders, or talks with customers at sales center or by phone.

  • Follows company policies and procedures.

  • Other job duties may be assigned.

What You Will Need:

  • Three plus years outside sales experience in the pool and spa industry or related field with a proven track record of business to business sales.

  • Ability to perform business math (percentages, ratios, discounts, interests, etc).

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions in a timely manner. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written and oral form.

  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, ability to learn Prelude system and Internet software.
