Chemours is seeking a Plant Manager to join our growing Manufacturing team! This position will report directly to the Vice President of Operations at our New Johnsonville, TN location.

The Plant Manager is accountable for the overall performance of the manufacturing site, and responsible to direct and enable the site teams to execute operations strategy to meet the business and customer needs.  This includes leveraging knowledge of industry best practices, systems modeling, financial analysis and collaborating cross-functionally (e.g., Business, R&D, legal, Procurement) to solve problems and create opportunities to improve site and business performance profitability, and enable best-in-class service to internal and external customers.  Our New Johnsonville site has approximately 500 Chemours employees.  The successful candidate will be familiar with High Hazard processes, Toxic Inhalation Hazards, and overall Process Safety Management. 

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Manages overall operation and all aspects of a large manufacturing facility including production, maintenance, technology, and other manufacturing units/functions.

  • Responsible for environmental, safety, security, quality control, accounting, distribution, human resources and purchasing activities.

  • Build a culture where people are engaged, thriving, and delivering to their full capability

  • Deliver on a complex budget with multiple production areas and tenants

  • Ensures continuous and efficient production and drives year-over-year improvements in safety, capacity, quality and cost to meet the needs of the customers and the business.

  • Sets expectations and work environment standards necessary for successful operation.

  • Ensures appropriate personnel planning, staffing, and performance management and develops talent to enable successful and necessary transition of personnel. Ensures compliance with policies and procedures and safety standards.

  • Assures the right to operate is maintained by meeting permitting requirements and engaging with the community.

  • Leads Management Reviews for core systems (Safety, Environmental, Quality, Cost and Uptime)

  • On-time/on-budget completion of capital projects.

The following is required for this role:

  • 15+ years of experience in operations, manufacturing, chemistry/chemical engineering or a related discipline (chemical manufacturing is preferred) with specific leadership experience in a global manufacturing high hazard process environment.

  • Proficiency in cost management and continuous improvement.  Management experience in one or more supply chain functions (manufacturing, S&OP, procurement, logistics, etc.) is essential.

  • Demonstrate the ability to create and work in a lean, fast-paced environment, have a bias for action and focus on results. Leverage other location/business systems/resources to optimize performance.

  • Must have relevant knowledge of batch and continuous mass process technologies and knowledge of critical functions with an emphasis on operations, maintenance, lean concepts and supply chain.

  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a cross-functional organization and can clearly communicate with employees at all levels.

  • Demonstrated understanding and commitment to EHS development and compliance.

  • Building community relationships to foster a positive image by promoting site business and company CRC goals

  • Translate business direction to organization through inspiring team and personal goals at all levels of the organization.

  • Experience with Highly Toxic Materials and high hazard process operations.
