Opportunity

Sustainable Investing (SI) is focused on enhancing and protecting long-term stakeholder value by considering the impact of environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors on investment risk and performance, alongside traditional financial and economic analysis. The implementation of sustainable investing varies by asset class, but our guiding philosophy remains the same: the consideration of ESG factors enables better informed investment decisions and supports long-term stakeholder value.     
As the Co-op, Sustainable Investing, you will support AIMCo's SI program, which considers the ESG aspects of AIMCo's investments in alignment with our Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) signatory commitments, regulatory and international protocols. You will use your written and analytical skills to contribute to stewardship and engagement activities and portfolio analysis. You can expect to analyze and conduct research, track ESG trends, uphold consistent voting rationale, support investment deal due diligence and contribute to SI reporting requirements over the term.

Note: This is a 4-month term starting in January 2025 through April 2025. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Conduct ESG portfolio analysis for both public and private asset class investments, from data collection to climate scenario modelling 

  • Conduct research to support corporate engagements and stewardship activities 

  • Analyze proxy voting ballots and shareholder proposals during annual general meetings 

  • Engage in research to pinpoint, evaluate, and address ESG risks and opportunities 

  • Compile detailed reports and presentations capturing sustainable investing activities for clients 

  • Actively participate in ESG due diligence and evaluate potential investments across asset classes 

Our Ideal Candidate Qualifications 

  • In pursuit of a bachelor's or master’s degree in business, economics, or related discipline 
  • Must be returning to full time academic studies in 2025, or completing their final work experience terms 
  • Demonstrated interest in sustainability 
  • Superior written, interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with others 
  • Initiative, drive, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment 
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
  • Ability to recognize and define problems and opportunities and generate creative solutions 
  • Knowledge in data mapping and automation tools is considered an asset 
  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to AIMCo’s core values of excellence, transparency, humility, integrity and collaboration, and inspires the same in others

As a Co-op Student, Sustainable Investing, your success will be determined by your ability to take your passion for sustainability and translate it into actionable analysis that can be used to contribute to ESG integration.
