Job Summary
Responsible for facilitating the successful, on-time, high quality delivery of various product development activities by leading and coaching one or more delivery teams. Plays a key role in allowing the company to meet stated objectives and continuously learning how to be more responsive to rapidly changing business conditions through the ongoing application of principles and practices of multiple agile frameworks, primarily scrum. Possesses a solid understanding of how scrum and other agile frameworks work to deliver business value and how various practices can and should evolve. Serves as the on-scene expert and not only understands these concepts, but is able to articulate their value and the dynamics of using one or more of them.Job Description
What you will do
- Work with cross-functional teams - made up from Product Leads, UX & UI, Developers and Testers - supporting them to take ownership for their processes and outcomes
- Coach the team to improve efficiency and quality by inspecting and adapting their ways of working with Agile and Lean practices
- Work with Product & Tech Leads to support the review and management of delivery roadmaps and product backlogs
- Have an open and practical approach to:
- Planning and delivery
- Monitoring progress
- Reacting to change
- Co-ordinating with other teams where there are dependencies
- Reporting on the team’s progress to stakeholders
- Take part in or facilitate important team meetings (for example, planning & retrospectives) – encouraging honest discussion and decision making, making sure everyone takes part, and supporting with the resolution of any disagreements
- Remove - or support the team to remove - blockers and wasted effort to maintain a sustainable flow of work
- Build a safe and supportive environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or of being judged
- Regularly inspect the team’s performance and identify areas to improve
- Use Agile metrics to monitor progress and share those learnings with the team
- Get involved in the Agile community within the department by attending meetings and sharing your knowledge
- Work with teams in different time zones to achieve common goals
What you will bring
- 4+ years practical experience of working within a software delivery team as a Scrum Master or Agile Coach
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to connect with people – an influencer and positive role model
- You’ll be a self-starter with enthusiasm for Agile delivery, while focusing on outcomes.
- You’ll be able to keep a motivational mindset whilst focusing on several tasks
- You’ll have a proven track record of using data to inspect and adapt processes, with teams of different levels of maturity
- You’ll be proactive and flexible, with excellent facilitation and coaching skills
- You’ll have proficiency with a project management tool like JIRA or similar tool
Core Responsibilities
- Responsible for the planning and facilitation of standard meetings to include; backlog preparation, iteration planning, retrospectives, iteration reviews and daily stand-ups.
- Engages with any needed business entity to help remove obstacles to his or her teams being able to deliver on stated goals and helps to negotiate working agreements.
- Contributes to the agile community within and outside of Comcast in order to better understand how to be effective in the role and apply experiences of other in improving team performance.
- Engages and assists the product owner to ensure that work requests are properly articulated, prioritized and detailed.
- Works to identify blocked or stalled stories and assists the team in learning to resolve the issues or assists getting resolution.
- Provide training to new team members regarding agile process.
- Ensures that scrum framework is utilized in a manner consistent with the corporate framework.
- Dedicated to continuous process improvement through feedback loops, coaching, retrospectives and individual improvement.
- Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
- Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary.
