Job Summary: As the Assistant Director for the Safety and Mission Assurance (SMA) Directorate you will be responsible for driving efficiency and effectiveness into a vast majority of Directorate-level operations. You will lead the Directorate's risk management activities and oversee the development of major enhancements to existing SMA management systems to enable data integration across multiple platforms for greater awareness of hazards, non-compliances, waivers, and risks.

Major Duties:

  • Maintain and improve Directorate processes for managing workload and activities such timely preparation for upcoming milestones, monthly Directorate all-hands, center level action submission, and responding to agency data calls.
  • Serve as Code Q Risk Manager and Directorate representative to the Ames Quality Management System (AQMS)/Ames Risk Management System (ARMS).
  • Lead implementation of changes to the Problem Reporting and Corrective Action (PRACA) system to enable integration with the AQMS.
  • Lead definition and development, or acquisition, of a next generation system for tracking and reporting safety and health data.
  • Support and lead efforts to address technical and programmatic actions and issues within the Directorate or across organization boundaries.

Qualifications: Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. To qualify for GS-15, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level: Performing business or management operations to resolve technical and programmatic issues across organizational boundaries; Developing risk assessment and mitigation strategies for a project or organization; Developing, implementing, and monitoring the business operation statuses of organizational responsibilities and actions to ensure efficiency and timely completion.
