Christiana Care Health System is seeking a pediatric Occupational Therapist to work full time flex (72 hours bi-weekly). Weekends and holidays as required.
In this position, you will evaluate and treat patients ages birth through school age with a variety of diagnoses in the acute care NICU, outpatient, natural environment settings, as well as other contracted locations of service as required by physician's written order. Becoming a member of the Pediatric Rehabilitation team at Christiana Care will allow you to work closely with the other professionals on this multidisciplinary team such as physical therapists, speech language pathologists, and early childhood educators. You will collaborate with nurses, physicians, and family service coordinators to ensure the best outcome for each child and family. You will develop strong coaching relationships with parents and other caregivers. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to shape the professional careers of future Occupational Therapists through our robust OT student program.
Principal duties and responsibilities:
- Performs patient evaluation, treatment, or supervision of treatment
- Documents and maintains appropriate medical records including initial progress and discharge notes
- Maintains up to date clinical records including but not limited to physician prescriptions and insurance authorizations
- Provides positioning, handling, car seat testing, caregiver education in the NICU
- Provides assessments and treatments at contracted locations of service
- Provides outpatient treatment of children birth through school age
- Provides treatment of children, birth to three, in the Natural Environment (homes, daycares, preschools) in New Castle County.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelors, Masters or Doctorate graduate of from an accredited school of Occupational Therapy
- CPR Certification
- At least one year of pediatric experience preferred
- Registration with the American Occupational Therapy Certification Board preferred
- Licensed or eligibility for licensure in the state of Delaware
