Lab Summary:
The Samsung SOC Lab vision provides innovative SoC architecture, bus / memory subsystem, multimedia subsystems and key IP blocks for future Samsung Galaxy products (Smartphones, tablets and future devices). We are defining the high performance SoC architecture development for various Galaxy device lineups. This lab collaborates with Samsung's strategic SoC partners, Samsung MX headquarter team, and key R&D teams around the globe to innovate and reinvent technology that will positively impact millions of people around the world via the Galaxy flagship products.
Position Summary:
We are looking for an intern to help build algorithm simulations for analysis of existing and new camera signal processing, computer vision and display processing algorithms for next generation mobile products. Software prototyping and simulation experience with focus on image processing and computer vision algorithms is required for this position.
Position Responsibilities:
- Build algorithm simulations for camera, display, and computer vision processing blocks.
- Propose and implement optimization methods to meet the product requirements including image/video quality, memory, latency and computation.
- Work with algorithm and hardware teams to analyze image quality, memory, and computation trade-offs for different algorithms and parameters.
- Leverage Industry standard prototyping languages and libraries and/or create in house tools to efficiently implement algorithm simulations and comparisons.
- Identify and utilize datasets to verify, compare and analyze the software prototype implementations.
- Work with the algorithm team to cover the use cases including immersive, camera, AI, Display, Multimedia and gaming applications.
- Communicate the results across related engineering audiences (SW, HW, Architecture, Leadership).
Required Skills:
- Pursuing or completed MS/PhD degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering, or related discipline
- Proficient in C/C++, Python and MATLAB programming languages
- Hands-on experience with OpenCV and OpenGL libraries
- In-depth understanding of image signal processing and display pipelines
- Extensive experience on implementing prototype code
- Strong grasp of memory and computation requirements and image quality expectations of state-of-the-art algorithms
- Experience on identifying image/video quality metrics
- Effective verbal and written communication skills to work with people across a wide range of disciplines and experience
