Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Director of Substation, the successful candidate will be expected to assist substation maintenance staff in identifying operational or maintenance improvement opportunities or modifications for improving availability, reliability, efficiency, and safety. The Technical Specialist is responsible to provide guidance and direction to all operations and maintenance employees to ensure they deliver superior customer service, world class safety, high level operational efficiency targets and optimal delivery of maintenance initiatives (KPIs) using internal and external resources.Job Description:
Support maintenance operations; develops and implements process; suggests operational changes and adjustments as required to meet business goals.
Lead direct and indirect reports through execution of strategic plans, following the overall direction of Management and demonstrating that safety is priority, ensuring that all employees follow safe practices while working.
Conducts regular, on-going staff meetings with Operations organization to create an environment of open and effective communications across the operational area.
Monitors and manages the quality process within all areas of responsibility, assuring that every aspect of the workforce, processes and standards, equipment, and services meet or exceed customer expectations and are always consistent with the quality goals of the company.
Establishes and maintains frequent, on-going contact with customers and special interest parties to foster improved communications and solid, long-term relationships.
Assists Management with the evaluation of capital expenditures and job costs and shares ideas regarding areas of savings and efficiencies.
Communicate and cooperate with all internal divisions such as Human Resources, Asset Management, Planning, Standards, Engineering Design, Reliability and Safety and Training of job details and requirements.
Advanced knowledge of computers and Windows based software skills and ability to create, analyze and make recommendations for financial and operational changes on an on-going basis to Leadership. Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Responsibilities include budget management support, contractor coordination and supervision, and fill in coverage for front line maintenance Supervisors including on call coverage rotation as required.
Other responsibilities include working closely with department staff to determine areas in need of improvement, and successfully completing improvement projects.
Employ effective time and priority management skills to assure accurate and timely results. Provide support in the development and creation of equipment, parts, bill of materials, and adequate inventory levels.
Perform major storm restoration work and associated drills as assigned.
Follow all policies and procedures.

Additional Job Description:
Education and experience:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited college or university.
Engineering License Certificate issued by the Puerto Rico Examining Board for Engineers, Architects, Surveyors and Landscape Architects.
Be a member of the Puerto Rico Association of Engineers and Surveyors.
10 year's experience in Substation or electrical maintenance.
Show ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse teams and work groups across the organization and external stakeholders.
Demonstrates skill in planning, managing, and prioritizing.
Proficient in Spanish and English with the ability to read, write and speak. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to effectively interact with internal and external customers.
Support maintenance staff by managing and interfacing with contract labor.
Excellent team player and ability to prioritize assignments to meet commitments.
Proficient in the delivery of professional official communications, involving analytical reasoning.
Ability to work in an environment with firm deadlines.
