As a Senior Category Management Specialist individual will be responsible for managing and overseeing categories for commodities and services consistent with the overarching strategy defined by the organization, ensuring effective sourcing, cost control, supplier management, and compliance with company policies and industry regulations. The Senior Category Management Specialists expertise in category management will contribute to the overall efficiency and success of the organization's offshore drilling operations.

All activities are to be accomplished using company sanctioned tools and processes to ensure transparency, auditability, consistency, and repeatability of initiatives.

DUTIES:

  • Manage and support the activities related to Category Management analysis, data evaluation and reporting
  • Work with Stakeholders to proactively identify opportunities
  • Develop templates that enables Category Managers to work with data related to vendor activities
  • Provide solutions to automation efforts
  • Negotiate contracts as required on an ad hoc basis to support category managers
  • Full understanding of ERP systems, report evaluation and data manipulation
  • Monitor and provide updates to Category Management team regarding issues and areas of potential risk.
  • Perform evaluation on vendor base structure and potential issues.
  • Develop dashboards, alongside with IT to demonstrate data integrity and areas of opportunities
  • Proactively engage operations to understand how to cross reference data so Supply Chain can support the organization
  • Negotiate with vendors as needed
  • Updates price lists for all contractual market baskets required by the Category Management team
  • Implement contractual requirements and templates based on the category being addressed

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree

EXPERIENCE:

  • Five (5) to Seven (7) years of Supply Chain, Strategic Sourcing and Category Management

SKILLS:

  • Highly organized with the ability to resolve complex commercial issues.
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Robust team building and interpersonal skills.
  • Solid analytical skills with the ability to find and analyze data.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Knowledge of ERP and procurement systems.
  • Knowledge and analysis of offshore drilling equipment benchmarking and market trend analysis. 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • You have good understanding of terms and conditions as well as an interest in developing your negotiation skills
  • Have experience and understand the value of strong Supplier Relationship Management
  • You are confident navigating in complex and dynamic organizations
  • You have a strong self-drive dedication and pro-active approach
  • A competent ability to manage projects & managing multiple internal stakeholders and external suppliers
  • Rounded business mind set is required to ensure the continual engagement of other internal functions within the process i.e., engagement with tax, human resources, finances etc.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills allowing you to build and maintain good working relationships with your stakeholders
  • You have an analytical mindset where you are familiar with and can regularly conduct sensitivity analysis
