Job Summary:
Provide support in the day-to-day functions of the job classification and compensation areas of Human Resources.Required Qualifications:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the compensation manager to write and edit job descriptions. Assist with updating, and maintaining the college's job descriptions database.
- Conduct salary research and data verification to support the compensation manager in completing compensation review requests.
- Process compensation-related Workday Inbox items daily and in a timely manner, which may include reviewing/approving job requisitions and compensation hire and change requests.
- Process substitute and leave requests submitted through the Faculty Load-Payroll Inbox. Submit one-time payment requests and update period activity pay requests in Workday. Assist with completing full-time faculty payout transactions.
- Assist with faculty load compensation audits and state reporting.
- Research and audit compensation report data and employee information for accuracy. Escalate data discrepancies to the compensation manager for guidance and resolution.
- Collect information/data as needed to prepare reports and files for internal and external college customers, ensuring all documents and data required for each process are complete and accurate.
- Assist with answering inquiries regarding employee compensation; compose and edit correspondence as required. Work with the compensation manager to resolve discrepancies and correct employee data.
- Create, update, and maintain compensation standard operating procedures and documentation. Maintain compensation-related files. Manage document archival and disposal of materials.
- Update the HR Job Classification and Compensation website as needed.

- Knowledge of Collin College/HR policies, procedures, and guidelines
- Knowledge of Associated Press (AP) basic rules of grammar and punctuation
- Knowledge of the college's editorial style guidelines
- Knowledge of customer service principles and practices; proper phone etiquette
- General knowledge of payroll-related functions
- Knowledge of electronic files, records, and data management systems
- Knowledge of HR data and records retention policies
- Effective interpersonal skills and diplomacy
- Strong organizational and planning skills with attention to detail and follow-through
- Excellent written and verbal skills
- Strong proof-reading skills
- Advanced computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, word-processing, database, email, and presentation applications)
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to maintain the confidentiality of work-related information and materials
- Ability to maintain a working knowledge of systems and data requirements
- Ability to interpret and apply rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, projects, and demands

- Ability to perform mathematical calculations used in compensation
- Ability to adapt to new technologies
Physical Demands, Working Conditions and Physical Effort
Sedentary Work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met. Positions in this class typically require talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking, and repetitive motions. Relatively free from unpleasant environmental conditions or hazards. Office environment. Little physical effort is required.
Requirements
An associate degree from a regionally accredited institution and three (3) years of full-time related work experience is required.
Experience working in human resources, compensation, and/or higher education, preferred. Experience working with faculty load compensation is preferred.
Equivalency Language
Two (2) additional years of directly related full-time work experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
