INTRODUCTION TO ROLE:

The Director of People and Culture – ESA for Callaway Korea will be a progressive thought partner with a growth mindset to support leaders in the move forward journey to scale. The Director of People & Culture will be a hands on leader with a small, but mighty team to support a positive culture and environment, support employee career development, coaching, mentoring and collaboration with multinational and global experience. The Callaway Korea office has around 150 employees with the majority of the employee base being in sales, eCommerce, finance & accounting, IT, hard goods and apparel. The Director of People & Culture will report directly to the General Manager, Head of Office in Korea with a dotted line into HR in the US where HQ is.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategic HR Leadership:

   - Develop and implement HR strategies that support the organization’s objectives and promote a high-performance culture within a global framework.

   - Partner with senior leadership and global HR teams to understand business needs and align HR initiatives accordingly.

Talent Acquisition and Management:

   - Oversee recruitment and selection processes to attract top talent while ensuring a diverse and inclusive workforce that reflects our global values.

   - Implement talent management programs, including performance management, Career development, succession planning, and leadership development, in alignment with global standards.

Employee Relations and Engagement:

   - Foster a positive work environment through effective employee relations strategies and conflict resolution, taking into account both local and global perspectives.

   - Design and implement employee engagement initiatives to enhance morale, retention, and overall job satisfaction across the organization.

Change Management:

   - Lead and/or supports business leaders in key organizational change management initiatives (M&As, organizational culture change, business process re-engineering, reorganizations)

- Supports senior leaders in change of organization design and resource management as need.

Compensation and Benefits:

   - Develop competitive compensation and benefits programs that align with local market practices while adhering to global guidelines.

   - Ensure compliance with local regulations and best practices in compensation management.

Training and Development:

   - Assess training needs and develop programs to enhance employee skills and career development, leveraging global resources and best practices.

   - Promote a culture of continuous learning and development within the organization, facilitating knowledge exchange across borders.

Compliance and Reporting:

   - Ensure compliance with all local labor laws, regulations, and HR best practices while aligning with the global HR framework.

   - Prepare and present HR metrics and reports to senior management to inform strategic decision-making at both local and global levels.

Organizational Development:

   - Drive change management initiatives to support organizational growth and transformation in line with our global objectives.

   - Collaborate with leaders across regions to design and implement organizational development programs.

Business Management:

  • Has clear understanding of the organizational capabilities and how to develop those capabilities through the HR strategy
  • Develops a robust understanding of business financial performance and commercials. Provide inputs to the budget and planning process as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Human Resources or related field; Master’s degree is a plus preferred.

- Minimum of 10 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within a global organization.

- Strong knowledge of Korean labor laws and HR practices, along with an understanding of global HR trends.

- Proven track record in strategic HR planning and execution within an international context.

- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.

- Multitasking and able to manage complex people issues under pressure and time constraints

- Ability to work collaboratively across all levels of the organization and across borders, including English language skills.

- Experienced in highly matrix organization are preferred. Good balance between Local necessities and global priorities.
