American Ballet Theatre (ABT) is one of the greatest dance companies in the world. The Resident Assistant’s primary responsibilities are geared towards serving and enhancing the living experience of all ABT JKO School residential students and ensuring their safety and well-being at a dorm in the Midtown East neighborhood of Manhattan. Resident Assistants share responsibilities for supervising approximately 40 ABT JKO School Pre-Professional Division students (ages 15-19) and up to 12 ABT Studio Company dancers (ages 17-21). The positions require living on the premises for the entire 2024-2025 season (September through May). Housing in a single room, with an in-suite bathroom and access to shared kitchen, gym, and laundry facilities plus other common areas , will be provided, along with a stipend. In an emergency or planned absence, RAs may be asked to substitute for one another
The successful candidate will be energetic, organized, detail-oriented, and will have strong communication skills and the ability to interface with a wide variety of individuals. The Resident Assistant position requires a high level of professionalism, good instincts, confidentiality, positive energy, and a can-do attitude. Excellent interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills are required.
Note: This is not a full-time position and candidates are encouraged to pursue daytime employment or education while in this role.
