Job Summary: This position is located in the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department, Club Branch, Naval Air Station, KINGSVILLE, TX. The purpose of this position is to assist the respective manager/assistant manager in the daily operation of the activity.

Major Duties:

  • MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES. Responsible for assisting the assurance of an efficient operation of the activity during his/her respective shift. Must promote good patron relationship and enhance the image of the club. Reviews the schedule of functions that are to take place during the assigned shift in order to ascertain what special preparations are required. Ensures that necessary space, supplies, and equipment are available and that room arrangements/set-ups are completed. Provides instruction and guidance to all club staff members on functions taken place during their shifts. Works with bartenders, cooks, waiters/waitresses and others to ensure planned events take place as scheduled. Responsible for assisting with the supervision and training of the personnel assigned to the activity. Ensures adequate manning for special events as well as routine operations. Ensures that all personnel are fully utilized, requesting additional personnel or releasing unnecessary personnel as the situation warrants. Responsible for issuing, receiving, and controlling cash receipts and change funds under custody. Verifies cash count of cash receipts and change funds turned in by individual cashiers. Rings out cash registers at the end of cashier's shifts. Maintains log book of money drops, copies of DARS, ensures register tapes are recorded and dropped. Attempts to resolve problems in a tactful and diplomatic manner. In case of serious problems, contacts Manager/Assistant Manager. Prepares and maintains a daily report of operations to include both minor and serious incidents, i.e. personnel staffing problems related to work situations, other pertinent information to include personnel operation problems, i.e., equipment breakdowns, repairs, leaks, etc. May assist bartenders in setting up bars for night duty or special parties. May also assist in conducting bar/food inventories. May serve as a leader in assuring work assignments of personnel are performed, provides necessary supplies to employees and resolves minor problems and complaints of the employees. Makes recommendations to the Manager/Assistant Manager regarding work performance of personnel. Types routine correspondence/memos, prepares SF-52s for personnel actions, prepares rough draft of work request to be approve by Management, ensures custody of all records, and property of the activity. Maintains files for activities, answers telephone and disseminates information as needed, referring difficult or controversial matters to the Manager/Assistant manager. Enforces all club rules and regulations. Assists in the conduct of a thorough and comprehensive safety program for all areas within the club. Will verify and compute timecards for accuracy and submission to Payroll. Performs other related duties as required.

Knowledge of basic accounting, cash handling procedures and basic computer knowledge required. Must present a neat, well-groomed appearance at all times.
