Job Summary: IT Specialist (Network) Cloud/Infrastructure Engineer position(s) are being filled through the Office of Personnel Management's delegated Direct Hire Authority, open to all U.S. citizens. Selections made under this bulletin will be processed as new appointments to the civil service. Current civil service employees would, therefore, be given new appointments to the civil service. Under the provisions of the Direct Hire Authority, Veterans Preference and the "Rule of Many" do not apply.
Major Duties:

Duties: Serves as the Agency's technical authority and expert in the installation, customization and problem determination of the technologies involved. Works with senior technical and managerial representatives in the development of Systems-wide directives, standards, specifications, policies, implementation strategies, management guidelines, procedures and practices. Serves as the Senior Technical Expert on task forces responsible for the accomplishment of new technology installations and upgrades. Serves as the lead in investigating network problems related to communications software. Employs sophisticated problem analysis, resolution techniques and state-of-the art diagnostic technologies. Determines area of problem responsibility and summons vendor representatives when appropriate. Provides highest levels of technical contributions to discussions with vendors concerning vendor's need to modify and correct their products. Conducts presentations at technical conferences in areas of expertise, and advises and directly interfaces with the highest levels of Agency management, other government Agencies and audiences outside government. Provides leadership in the formulation and implementation of internet/intranet policies, objectives, plans, and methods for achieving the SSA mission. Develops necessary documentation such as procedures, flow and logic charts, operating guides and other instructions necessary for the preservation of supported systems. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. Minimum Qualifications: Grade 14 To qualify at the GS-14 level, you must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS-13 level, or equivalent. Such IT-related experience must include ALL the following: 1. IT Project Management 2. AND experience with: Merging hybrid cloud technologies incorporating on-premises and public cloud infrastructure. Developing and implementing enterprise standards, guidelines, and policy for cloud infrastructures and services. Advising components regarding Linux and Windows administration and Cloud projects on requirements, configurations, and limitations. AND experience managing virtualized infrastructures.
