Introduction

Global Foundries IT organization is rapidly transforming our Cloud Engineering capabilities.  We are establishing a Cloud Platform Engineering team and are seeking a strategic and hands-on Platform Engineering Lead to drive the design, development, and evolution of our internal cloud platform capabilities across AWS and Azure. This role will lead a team of engineers focused on building scalable, secure, and self-service infrastructure that empowers application teams to deliver faster and more reliably. 

What You Will Do 

• Lead platform engineering initiatives to build and maintain reusable infrastructure components, CI/CD pipelines, and developer self-service capabilities. 

• Architect and implement platform services using Infrastructure as Code (IaC), GitOps, and automation tools. 

• Collaborate cross-functionally with Cloud Solutions Delivery, Cloud Operations, and Security teams to ensure platform alignment with enterprise standards. 

• Establish and evolve platform maturity, including observability, governance, cost optimization, and reliability engineering. 

• Mentor and guide engineers, fostering a culture of ownership, innovation, and continuous improvement. 

• Drive adoption of best practices in cloud-native architecture, DevOps, and platform product management. 

• Help define and build spec driven, agent empowered development workflows  

What You Will Bring 

• 12 to 15 years of experience in cloud infrastructure or platform engineering roles. 

• Deep expertise in AWS and Azure, including core services, networking, identity, and automation. 

• Strong proficiency in Terraform, Bicep/ARM, and CI/CD tooling (e.g., GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps). 

• Experience with Kubernetes, container orchestration, and service mesh technologies 

• Proven leadership experience, including mentoring and technical direction 

• Familiarity with FinOps, security controls, and compliance frameworks 

Skills: 

Cloud & Infrastructure Expertise 

• Deep proficiency in either AWS, Azure, or GCP services 

• Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar 

• Strong grasp of networking, compute, and storage fundamentals 

SRE Expertise:  

• Strong understanding of SRE principles, including SLOs, SLAs, and error budgets 

• Proficiency in observability tools like Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana, and Alertmanager 

• Experience with automation and scripting (e.g., Python, Bash, Ruby) 

Automation & DevOps:  

• Building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions) 

• Containerization and orchestration with Docker and Kubernetes 

• Scripting in Python, Go, or Bash for automation and tooling 

Software Engineering:  

• Proficiency in one or multiple object-oriented programming languages 

• Experience with software development methodologies (Agile, DevOps) 

• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD) 

Security & Compliance 

• Applying platform security best practices (e.g., secrets management, IAM) 

• Ensuring compliance with frameworks like SOC 2 or ISO 27001 

• Integrating security into CI/CD and infrastructure workflows
