Cloud Platform Engineer

As a Cloud Platform Engineer, you will play a key role in the day-to-day management and health of the Azure platform. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Monitoring and maintaining the health and performance of cloud services and infrastructure.

  • Providing timely response to, and resolution of, platform related incidents and service disruptions.

  • Supporting project teams with cloud expertise and operational readiness.

  • Implementing and promoting FinOps practices to optimise cloud spend and resource usage.

  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure platform stability and continuous improvement.

  • You will to be contactable out of business hours for problem resolution.

  • Participate in regular testing of arrangements for business continuity

  • Requirements to provide on-call or shift support.

  • Requirements to work irregular hours with minimal notice.


About you

To be successful in this role, you will bring a strong technical background and a proactive approach to cloud operations. Key skills and experience include:

  • Proven experience with Microsoft Azure, including core PaaS services and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Bicep, ARM, or Terraform.

  • Strong understanding of Azure FinOps principles, cost optimisation strategies, and budget governance.

  • Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps, including CI/CD pipeline design, release management, and automated infrastructure deployments.

  • Solid knowledge of Azure security and governance, including Azure Policy, RBAC, landing zones, and compliance best practices.

  • Experience with capacity management, including resource utilisation planning, scaling strategies, and performance optimisation across Azure workloads.

  • Industry certification: Azure Administration and Terraform Automation.

  • Familiarity with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and platform health and observability tools.

  • Experience supporting and operating cloud infrastructure in a production enterprise environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve complex platform and service issues.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across engineering, security, and operations teams.
