The Cloud Network Engineer responsible for designing, deploying and maintaining fit for purpose networking across all of Fisher and Paykel’s Cloud environments and on-premises data centers. This role exists to bridge the gap between isolated cloud applications; creating consistency, reusability and efficiency. The Cloud Network Engineer will work closely with the various application development, security and project teams.
The Role
Design and implement cloud-native network architectures in AWS and Azure to ensure reliability, scalability and cost efficiency.
Integrate cloud and on-premises network environments to improve efficiency and reduce complexity.
Collaborate with the DevOps team to implement infrastructure automation using CI/CD for faster deployments
Collaborate with the Security team to ensure secure connectivity across our cloud footprint.
Collaborate with the Service Desk and Tech Support teams, to ensure support functions operate effectively.
Support disaster recovery and business continuity planning for network infrastructure.
Document network designs, configurations and operational procedures.
Create visibility of network performance through our observability platform to proactively detect and resolve issues.
Stay current with cloud networking trends and make recommendations on improvements to tooling and processes.
That’s the role, so who are you?
Proven experience delivering complex network solutions across both on-premises and cloud environments.
Hands-on expertise with cloud-native networking services, including VPCs, Transit Gateways, ExpressRoute, Direct Connect, VPN technologies, firewalls, and load balancers.
Experience operating within a global organisation, including implementing and managing diverse third-party access requirements.
Proficiency in Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) practices and tooling such as Terraform, CloudFormation, Pulumi, or equivalent technologies.
Demonstrated ability to operate effectively within a fast-paced, collaborative, and cross-functional environment.
Exposure to container networking concepts and containerised deployment models (e.g., Kubernetes, ECS, AKS).
Strong understanding of modern network security models and best-practice approaches to securing hybrid and cloud network environments.
Experience implementing network observability, including monitoring, performance tuning, and advanced troubleshooting.
Proven success in standardising and consolidating fragmented network architectures to improve resilience, consistency, and operational efficiency.
