RMIT has some exciting opportunities as part of its Research Infrastructure Signature Initiative investment. These positions are supporting the development of an RMIT approach to research infrastructure and a substantial uplift in its Digital Research Infrastructure.
If you're a cloud technologist who wants to do more than build and maintain systems — who wants to see research actually accelerate because of the work you do — this is your role. As Cloud Innovation Specialist, you'll be embedded in the RMIT AWS Innovation Lab (RAIL), working directly with researchers to translate their toughest technical challenges into practical, scalable AWS solutions.
You'll prototype, build, teach, and collaborate — working across RAIL, RACE, ITS, and AWS to make cloud technology genuinely accessible and impactful for RMIT researchers.
About You
To be successful in this position, you'll have:
Proven ability to engage with researchers and translate complex requirements into practical cloud-based solutions
Strong understanding of cloud service models and strategies to optimise performance, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness
Knowledge and practical experience in AI, ML, and HPC, with the ability to support their adoption in research contexts
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for engaging with students, staff, and industry partners
Sound understanding of training technologies within a cloud computing context, and experience supporting capability-building initiatives
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience); a research qualification is desirable
Please Note: Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children and National Police Check.
About the Group
The RMIT AWS Innovation Lab (RAIL) sits within RMIT's Research Infrastructure unit and works at the intersection of research ambition and cloud capability. You'll collaborate with the RMIT Advanced Cloud Ecosystem (RACE), ITS, and AWS to design and deliver solutions that push the boundaries of what researchers can achieve with cloud technology
