The Cloud Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for leading the design, implementation, and support of Element Fleet's AWS cloud infrastructure. They will be maintaining scalable and secure cloud environments to support the company’s transition from on-premises infrastructure to AWS Cloud Services. This role will play a critical part in developing and implementing the company’s cloud migration roadmap, ensuring high availability, performance, and security while modernizing IT operations.
Required
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
4+ years in infrastructure/operations or SRE across hybrid environments (VMware/Windows/Linux)
3+ years hands-on AWS (EC2/EKS/ECS, Kubernetes, S3, IAM, VPC, CloudWatch/CloudTrail/Config).
Proven track record migrating workloads from on-prem to AWS at scale (discovery, wave planning, execution, cutover, rollback).
Strong networking fundamentals (CIDR, routing, VPN/Direct Connect, DNS), security (IAM, KMS, guardrails), and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform and/or CloudFormation).
Proficiency with scripting/automation (Python or PowerShell/Bash), Git-based workflows, and CI/CD for infrastructure.
Experience implementing monitoring/observability, backup/restore, and DR with defined RTO/RPO.
Ability to participate in an on-call rotation and after-hours change windows as needed.
Certified AWS Solutions Architect – Associate, Professional preferred
Preferred
One of: AWS SysOps Administrator or AWS DevOps Engineer (preferred).
HashiCorp Terraform Associate, Kubernetes CKA/CKAD
Experience with Control Tower/Organizations multi-account setups, Transit Gateway, PrivateLink, and hybrid DNS.
Familiarity with security/compliance frameworks (CIS/NIST/ISO) and audit evidence practices.
Background with FinOps, showback/chargeback, and unit economics reporting.
Physical/Operational
Ability to perform hands-on keyboard work for architecture, scripting, and incident response; occasional after-hours work for cutovers.
