JOB SUMMARY
This position is eligible for remote work in one of the following states: Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, Virginia, Wisconsin, or Wyoming. This position will require some travel for office meetings, as needed, to our corporate office in Tulsa, OK.
Summary
ONEOK is seeking a Cloud Engineer to help manage and optimize AWS services and workloads, ensuring performance, security, cost‑efficiency, and adherence to standards and best practices. Responsibilities include maintaining the AWS landing zone and core services, driving infrastructure automation, enforcing security and compliance, optimizing resources, and supporting disaster recovery and resiliency. The role also involves staying current with new AWS offerings, contributing to modernization efforts, and collaborating with and mentoring teams to enable secure, resilient, and effective cloud solutions.
Cloud Engineer Responsibilities
Cloud Architecture & Service Enablement: Design, build, and evolve cloud‑native services while staying current with AWS offerings and best practices.
AWS Landing Zone & Core Services: Maintain and enhance the AWS landing zone and foundational services, ensuring secure, well‑architected integration across teams.
Partnering with Application, Data & Operational Teams: Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver secure, resilient AWS solutions, reusable patterns, and cloud enablement.
Resource Optimization & Cost Management: Optimize cloud resources for performance and cost efficiency, implementing measures that balance savings with availability.
Security & Compliance: Ensure AWS infrastructure meets governance and security standards, remediating risks and enforcing compliance policies.
Networking & Security Configuration: Configure and manage cloud networking and security to balance availability, performance, and compliance requirements.
Monitoring, Incident Response, & Resiliency: Partner with operations to monitor workloads, manage incidents, and implement disaster recovery and resiliency strategies.
Mentorship & Training: Act as a trusted advisor, mentoring engineers and providing training to increase cloud adoption and maturity.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience: 3+ years of proven experience as a Cloud Engineer or similar role with in-depth knowledge of AWS; 2+ years of experience with Infrastructure-as-code tools and processes (Terraform preferred)
Technical Skills: Strong understanding of cloud advisory tools, governance policies, and security best practices; experience with infrastructure automation tools; proficiency in common cloud programming languages such as Python, Go, etc; experience with patterns and practices related to CI/CD processes and tools.
Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze complex cloud environments, identify issues, and recommend solutions.
Collaboration: Strong communication and teamwork skills; able to work effectively with cross-functional technical teams.
Adaptability: Keen on staying up-to-date with rapid advancements in cloud technology.
Certification: Cloud certification (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect) is preferred.
