What You Will Do

  • Design, implement, and monitor secure, scalable Azure cloud environments that enable data, AI/ML models, and application platforms to operate reliably at enterprise scale.

  • Define cloud standards, reference architecture, reusable patterns, and governance models that guide engineering implementation across the team.

  • Collaborate with data scientists and engineers to ensure seamless integration of models into production.

  • Architect Azure compute, networking, storage, IAM, and security configurations, ensuring proper segmentation, performance, compliance, and alignment with mission needs.

  • Design and implement modular Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for repeatable deployments.

  • Ensure Security-by-Design (SbD) through IAM, network segmentation, compliance  and governance standards.

  • Monitor cloud environments for performance and reliability. Maintain standard uptime and develop disaster recovery strategies.

  • Troubleshoot infrastructure issues and optimize system performance.

  • Stay current with emerging cloud technologies and recommend improvements.

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members. 

  • Develop trusted relationships with clients by understanding their mission, challenges, and goals, and delivering tailored solutions that drive innovation in AI/ML and data science.  

What You Will Need

  • An ACTIVE and MAINTAINED "SECRET" Federal or DoD security clearance   

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field. 

  • Minimum of SIX (6) years of relevant professional experience.  

  • Deep understanding of Microsoft Azure services (e.g., Compute, Networking, Storage, Security).

  • Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g., Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates).

  • Strong knowledge of networking principles and cloud security best practices.

  • Ability to design for scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency.

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Knowledge of identity and access management (Azure AD).

  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools (Azure Monitor, Log Analytics).

  • Ability to understand client mission and business processes and adapt solutions and approaches accordingly to be successful. 

  • Ability to operate independently and collaboratively in small teams.  

  • Strong communication and presentation skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.  

  • Ability to think strategically and drive innovation.  

  • Ability to operate successfully on remote, hybrid, or on-site projects in the DC metro area.  

What Would Be Nice to Have

  • Master's degree in a relevant technical field.

  • Relevant experience supporting Department of State or other Federal Government organizations.  

  • Azure Solutions Architect Expert or Azure Administrator Associate certification.

  • Familiarity with AI/ML deployment patterns and MLOps frameworks.

  • Skills in scripting languages (PowerShell, Bash).

  • Hands-on experience with performance tuning for large-scale workloads.
