Euclid Hospital’s Emergency Department features 16 private beds and a customized split-flow process that allows for expedited patient care and reduced wait times. Caregivers in Euclid Hospital’s ED provide care to all patient populations and work collaboratively to make each patient’s visit as comfortable and stress-free as possible. Euclid Hospital’s ED is focused on employee engagement, teamwork and caregiver collaboration. As a Clinical Technician, you will assist with basic patient care, maintain room cleanliness and demonstrate empathy and compassion in all activities and interactions. This position offers a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience, enhance your skills, and pursue career growth within the Cleveland Clinic. A caregiver in this position works nights from 11:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m. with every other weekend and holiday rotation requirements. 

A caregiver who excels in this role will:   

  • Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN, such as taking vital signs and weight, assisting patients with personal care, point of care testing, dressing changes, patient transfers/transport, applying external monitoring devices, further technical skills of phlebotomy, 12-lead ECG’s and removing urinary Foley Catheters.  
  • Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to an RN. 
  • Assist with keeping patients’ rooms clean and orderly.   

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:   

  • High School Diploma/GED  
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross upon or within new hire period *Nursing students must obtain prior to hire  
  • One year of recent, full-time patient care experience OR nursing student with at least one completed clinical rotation as part of an accredited Nursing School Program OR military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) OR additional education/training (e.g., mental health)  
  • Competencies in both the professional, technical and clinical knowledge domains must be demonstrated in a safe, effective and efficient manner.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in applied mathematics & reading comprehension at an 8th grade level

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking.
  • Medium Work - Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force rarely, and/or 0 to 50 pounds of force occasionally to move objects.
  • Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
