Clinical Research Participant Specialist
The University of Miami/UHealth department of Neurology has an exciting opportunity for a Full Time Clinical Research Participant Specialist to work at the UHealth Medical Campus. The Clinical Research Participant Specialist assists in community outreach, recruitment, and enrollment of participants for clinical studies/trials. Moreover, the Clinical Research Participant Specialist schedules assessments, completes clinical intakes and assessments, conducts in-person and telephone interviews, and markets clinical studies/trials.
Core Responsibilities
Assists with the design and implementation of overall recruiting strategy for clinical studies/trials.
Sources and recruits study participants by using databases, social media, hospitals, mental health clinics, shelter programs, etc.
Prescreens and evaluates candidates for study participation.
Provides analytical and well-documented recruiting reports to leadership.
Acts as a point of contact and builds influential client relationships during prescreen process.
Markets clinical trials to community and participates in community outreach events to promote study awareness.
Schedules and conducts marketing presentations to various referral sources.
Understands clinical protocols (i.e., Phase I to Phase IV), associated study specifications and develops effective client recruitment programs accordingly.
Acts as a primary liaison between referral sources and the organization.
Completes required forms during the initial evaluation: demographic form, intake form, database consent form, releases of information, etc. and reviews the criteria for the programs. Updates and maintain patient database with required information.
Visits appropriate referral sources (i.e., hospitals, clinics, etc.) to market clinical studies/trials and conducts face-to-face screenings and assessments to determine eligibility; communicates with family or persons involved in participant’s care.
Designs and develops client education materials as needed.
Attends and participates in meetings with interdisciplinary treatment team as needed.
Attends field related conferences/seminars/trainings as approved by supervisor.
Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
Department Specific Functions
Assist the research team with collecting and entering study data accurately into study databases.
Perform basic data checks to ensure information is complete and consistent with study requirements.
Help maintain study files and participant records in an organized and confidential manner.
Contact participants by phone, email, or electronic health record systems to confirm appointments, provide reminders, or collect follow-up information.
Assist in preparing study materials such as source documents, data forms, or recruitment flyers under the direction of senior staff.
Support recruitment efforts by identifying and reaching out to potential participants using approved templates and procedures.
Learn and follow study protocols, institutional policies, and regulatory guidelines.
Help track study progress, such as enrollment numbers and visit completion, and report updates to senior staff.
Provide general administrative and logistical support to the research team, including scheduling, organizing documents, and ordering supplies.

Core Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field (health, biological, or social science field)

Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.

Proficiency in computer software (i.e., Microsoft Office)
Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.
