The Clinical Trials Office (CTO) is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Clinical Technician to join our team and support clinical research activities and routine clinical services. This full-time position plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of clinical trials while supporting our clinician scientists and providing high-quality care to hospital patients.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Research Support:
· Assist investigators and clinical staff with the coordination and execution of clinical research protocols.
· Support patient care activities related to clinical research, including patient intake, sample collection, delivering therapies, and patient monitoring.
· Ensure compliance with study protocols, regulatory requirements, and institutional policies.
· Maintain accurate and timely documentation of research-related procedures and patient interactions.
· Assists with identifying potential patients according to specified clinical research protocol eligibility.
· Recruits, interviews, enrolls patients, obtains informed consent and ensures consent process is completed in compliance to regulatory and sponsor requirements.
· Assists with clinical trial patient care by restraining, blood collections, placing IV catheters, administering medications, etc.
· Assists with monitoring patients for adverse reactions to study treatment, procedure or medication and notifies appropriate level of care. Documents unfavorable responses and notifies clinical research coordinators.
· Communicates with RDVMs and clients on recruitment and enrollment.
· Provide technical assistance to other clinical services as assigned by CTO clinical coordinators, including patient intake, handling, sample processing, and equipment setup.
· Collaborate with veterinary and medical teams to ensure efficient workflow and patient care.
· Maintain cleanliness and organization of clinical areas and equipment.
Qualifications:
· A Bachelor’s Degree or an Associate’s degree in Veterinary Medical Technology or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
· 0-2 years of experience in a clinical setting working with small animals and knowledge in medical terminology is strongly preferred.
· Experience in handling equine and food animal patients is preferred.
· REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: State of Ohio Current Registered Veterinary Technician
· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Working Conditions:
· May involve exposure to animals, biological samples, and clinical environments.
· Flexible schedule, including weekends and after-hours, may be required to accommodate research protocols and patient needs.
· Will be assigned to different services according to the number of clinical research scheduled, as determined by the CTO clinical research coordinator.
Final candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check. A drug screen or physical may be required during the post offer process.
