JOB PURPOSE:

The purpose of this position is to provide counseling and psychological services to students; provide training and supervision to trainees; and to provide technical support to the department.

SUPERVISORY ACCOUNTABILITY:

Intermediate

NATURE AND SCOPE:

Interacts with deans, directors, faculty, administration, and students along with parents of students.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Provide counseling and diagnostic services to clients in emotional distress, and those with adjustment, career choice and other developmental concerns
  • Familiarity and experience with telehealth platforms
  • Activities are a hybrid of online and in-person services
  • This position requires 40 hours per week with the possibility of some evening hours
  • Ability to and experience in providing predominantly short-term therapy services
  • Provides crisis intervention to clients who may be in crisis such as being suicidal or danger to self or others
  • Determines when psychiatric referrals should be made
  • Responsible for screening and interviewing of intake and “same-day” clients and presenting a concise description of the presenting problems to staff for disposition
  • Performs outreach services involving workshops, presentations and psychoeducational information
  • Competence providing services with cultural humility and sensitivity and demonstrated ability and commitment to the mission of social justice
  • Organizes and prepares detailed psychological reports, case histories and treatment plans
  • Teaches in-service course(s) for trainees and staff
  • Provides training and supervision to trainees
  • Participates in in-service training programs, supervision, workshops, and case conferences

CORE COMPETENCIES:

  • Ability to work with college students with a range of presenting concerns including but not limited to cognitive, emotional, academic, and social distress, identity development, trauma, and behaviors of risk (e.g., suicidality)
  • Competence in both written and oral communication
  • Ability to promote, establish, and maintain harmonious and effective work relations with students, faculty, staff, university officials, parents of student and the general public
  • Ability to learn and operate current Electronic Health Record (EHR) system for documentation, supervision or other required data
  • Ability to work and carry out principal duties in-person and/or in a virtual environment
  • Familiarity and experience with telehealth platforms

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Doctoral Degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in clinical or counseling psychology

Minimum of two (2) years clinical experience, licensed or license eligible.  If not yet licensed, then licensure must be within 2 years of the start date.

Compliance Salary Range Disclosure

Expected Salary Range: $65,000 - $79,000
