This 100-bed hospital serves the communities in and around Martin County. Here, you will work alongside passionate physicians, nurses and other caregivers in a family-oriented, supportive environment.

The Clinical Pharmacist – PRN supports inpatient pharmacy operations at Martin South Hospital, a smaller, community-based facility with a close-knit and collaborative team environment. This role offers a high level of autonomy and hands-on involvement, with responsibilities including medication order verification, IV compounding review, and responding to physician and nursing inquiries. The pharmacist also supports operational workflows by assisting with order processing, medication stocking, and general pharmacy tasks as needed. This position is ideal for a flexible pharmacist seeking meaningful impact within a supportive, community-focused setting.

This is a PRN role. A caregiver in this position will work various shifts, including 6:30am to 3:00pm, 8:00am to 4:30pm, 10:30am to 9:30pm, 10:00am to 9:00pm, and 9:00pm to 7:00am. This role requires one weekend per month and flexibility based on business needs. The primary location is Martin South Hospital, with schedules provided at least one month in advance and opportunities to pick up additional shifts if desired.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Provide safe, efficient, patient-centered and evidence-based pharmacy and medication services.  
  • Ensure the appropriate selection, dosing, administration and dispensing of medication orders.  
  • Verify medication orders and/or dispense medications accurately according to state and federal regulations.  
  • Document services in a complete, accurate and timely manner. 
  • Actively contribute to medication safety initiatives. 
  • Ensure all pharmacy operations are in compliance with national accreditation standards. 
  • Educate and train students, residents, other caregivers, and/or patients.  
  • Provide cost-effective care. 
  • Be accountable for drug use policy adherence. 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • PharmD or Bachelor’s of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited College of Pharmacy   
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Pharmacist (RPh) or eligible for reciprocation in current state within 90 days of hire 
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross and completion of a Board of Pharmacy approved course in the administration of immunizations or certification within 90 days of hire for individuals administering immunizations 
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certifications through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within one year of hire for individuals responding to adult or pediatric cardiopulmonary arrest events 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Board Certification 
  • 6 months of experience in an inpatient pharmacy setting
  • Completion of a Post-Graduate Year 1 Residency (PGY1), fellowship or two years of relevant post-graduate pharmacy experience 
  • Post-Graduate Year 2 Residency (PCY2) or relevant experience for Pharmacists in a specialty field 

Physical Requirements:

  • Typical physical demands include ability to perform the job while standing and walking for prolonged times, approximately 75% of shift and continuously for extended periods of time. 
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer and dispensing functions of the job; ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Position often includes reaching, stretching, stooping, climbing steps and sitting.
  • Must have normal or corrected vision.
  • Must have ability to clearly communicate verbally by phone or in person

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
