A caregiver in this role serves as a PRN inpatient clinical pharmacist, collaborating closely with pharmacists, technicians, physicians, advanced practice providers, nursing staff, and patients to support safe and effective medication use in a fast-paced hospital environment. Responsibilities include chart review and medication reconciliation, order verification and clarification, IV and sterile product oversight, drug therapy optimization, pharmacokinetic consults as applicable, and operational pharmacy coverage as needed, with participation in interdisciplinary rounds when scheduled. This role is ideal for a clinically strong pharmacist with inpatient experience who demonstrates sound clinical judgment, confident provider communication, adaptability across variable shifts (days, evenings, nights), and a commitment to patient safety and high-reliability care while seeking flexible PRN scheduling.

This is a PRN role. A caregiver in this position works a minimum of 4 shifts per month with ideally 2 weekend days of availability.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Provide safe, efficient, patient-centered and evidence-based medication services. 
  • Verify medication orders and/or dispense medications accurately according to state and federal regulations. 
  • Document services in a complete, accurate and timely manner. 
  • Ensure all pharmacy operations comply with national accreditation standards. 
  • Maintain professional interactions with patients to facilitate successful patient experiences. 
  • Educate and train students, residents, other caregivers and/or patients.  

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • PharmD or Bachelor’s of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited college of Pharmacy  
  • Current State licensure as a Registered Pharmacist (RPh) or eligible for reciprocation in current state within 90 days of hire 
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross and completion of a Board of Pharmacy approved course in the administration of immunizations or certification within 90 days of hire for individuals administering immunizations 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Board certification 
  • Completion of a post-graduate year 1 residency (PGY1), fellowship or 2 years of relevant post-graduate pharmacy experience 
  • Post-graduate year 2 residency (PGY2) or relevant experience preferred for Clinical Pharmacists hired in a Specialized Pharmacy practice area

Physical Requirements:

  • Typical physical demands include ability to perform the job while standing and walking for prolonged times, approximately 75% of shift and continuously for extended periods of time. 
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer and dispensing functions of the job; ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Position often includes reaching, stretching, stooping, climbing steps and sitting.
  • Must have normal or corrected vision.
  • Must have ability to clearly communicate verbally by phone or in person
