Clinical Nurse Specialist – CNS – Critical Care - Days

Working alongside Columbia doctors, you’ll be an integral partner in the delivery of team-based care to our most critically-ill patients. In this clinical leadership role, you will serve as a change-agent; leveraging your clinical expertise to enhance healthcare delivery and quality outcomes for our 12-bed medical-surgical ICU and 25-bed medical stepdown unit.

Key responsibilities include:  

  • Leading quality, safety, and process improvement initiatives

  • Developing and implementing action plans in response to changes in benchmark data.

  • Identifying and implementing strategies to improve clinical practice.

  • Providing expert consultation to nurses caring for complex patients.

  • Assessing learning needs and coordinating unit-based education and development initiatives.

  • Mentoring nursing and ancillary staff on the application of evidence-based practice

This is a full time position position working Monday-Friday at NewYork-Presbyterian/Allen Hospital.

Preferred Criteria

  • Experience applying principles of continuous quality improvement  

  • CCRN (Adult) or PCCN certification

Required Criteria

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant nursing experience

  • NYS RN licensure

  • CNS certificate through ANCC or AACN

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing or related field if already holds a BSN degree

  • BCLS certification from the American Heart Association

  • ACLS certification from the American Heart Association required within 90 days of hire/transfer

  • Demonstrated skills in leadership, communication, and teamwork
