Job Description Summary

The Clinical Instructor is responsible for coordinating, implementing and evaluating educational programs for interdisciplinary clinical staff. Works with Center staff to develop instructional strategies for implementation of ""best practices"". Assists in the identification of educational needs of clinical staff across the continuum.

Job Description

The Clinical Instructor will:

  • Implement, coordinate and/or evaluate the CCE orientation of new staff to clinical policies and procedures (including infection control, safety, and Hazard Communication) prior to orientation within the COG.
  • Work with Clinical Educator to provide clinical instruction of students in the Student Affiliation Program.
  • Work with Clinical Educator in providing an ongoing continuous program of in-service education to clinical staff.
  • Implement initial and ongoing inter-disclipinary and discipline-specific competency skills training and evaluation.
  • Collect, analyze, and/or present data regarding orientation, in-service education, student internship, and other activities and functions related to the Center.  Maintain records of activities as required by the Institute and various accrediting bodies.
  • Participate in discipline specific council and appropriate committees.
  • Contribute to profession through presentations, publications, and involvement in professional organizations.
  • Perform all other duties that may be assigned in the best interest of the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab.

Reporting Relationships:

  • Reports directly to the Nurse Manager.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • Level of knowledge normally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university.
  • Current State license for nursing practice.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years relevant clinical experience.


Working Conditions:

  • Normal office environment with little or no exposure to dust or extreme temperature.

$34.23 - $59.86
