Cochlear Japan: The Japan operations (NCC) is one of Asia Pacific’s longest established operations, with the Tokyo office opening in 1989.  Japan is an ageing country, and the ageing population is growing, leading to a higher incidence of hearing loss in over 65-year-olds. Hearing loss among the elderly is a huge opportunity. Our work in Japan focuses on raising awareness amongst the elderly whilst increasing better access and service to the Paediatric Market.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Clinical Education Specialist based in Tokyo, reporting to the Clinical Education Manager, Japan. In this role, the successful Clinical Education Specialist will have the opportunity to drive our business by providing your clinical expertise and working with field partners.

Accountabilities:

Accountability 1:  

In preparation for the launch of new products, select and translate training materials, and conduct training sessions targeting internal staff.

  • Implement training for the new product, covering processors, implants, and services in the systems of cochlear implants and bone conduction implants.
  • Collaborate with the APAC department and the marketing team in Japan to select and translate training materials.
  • The training is aimed at internal staff, including Clinical Services, technical staff, and other departments.

Accountability 2:

Plan and execute webinars and seminars for healthcare professionals in accordance with market needs and Cochlear's strategies.

  • Develop and implement webinars and seminars for healthcare professionals.
  • Collaborate with sales and clinical teams to ensure that the execution aligns thoroughly with market needs and Cochlear's strategies.
  • Coordinate with various departments within the marketing team during the implementation.

Accountability 3:

Plan and execute luncheon seminars and similar events at conferences.

  • Collaborate with sales, clinical, and marketing teams to plan and implement seminars such as luncheon seminars and evening events in line with market needs and Cochlear's strategies.
  • When inviting speakers from overseas for speaker selection, collaborate with the APAC department, and engage in communication with the speakers.

Accountability 4:

Plan and implement training for healthcare professionals, including temporal bone workshops.

  • Organize and conduct workshops including temporal bone workshops for healthcare professionals.
  • Collaborate with sales and clinical teams to ensure appropriate participant selection.

Accountability 5:  

Take on account responsibilities and engage in market support and expansion activities as a Clinical Specialist aiming to grow the business.

  • Collaborate with partner sales staff to develop and execute account plans.
  • Provide product support and training for cochlear implants and bone conduction implants through local and online channels.
  • Plan and execute awareness events targeting non-professionals.
  • Enter every call into SFHC and report in a timely manner.
  • Log issues in TrackWise and report them to RQR in a timely manner.

Accountability 6:  

Conduct training for newly hired clinical staff to enable a smooth start to their tasks.

  • Conduct training regarding the necessary knowledge for clinical staff to perform their duties, including product information, fittings, surgeries, and other related tasks.

Key Incumbent requirements:

Minimum:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ work experience in medical industry
  • Strong enthusiasm for achievement of allocated budget
  • Good selling and communication skills
  • Result-oriented
  • Ability to analyze and stimulate the market
  • Good team player
  • Ability to travel extensively
  • Business level spoken and written English skill for Cochlear’s internal processes and for better understanding of product and evidence-based messaging.

Ideal:

  • License in Speech-Language-Hearing Therapist or Registered Nurse
  • Master’s Degree (or equivalent) in audiology
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-A) or country equivalent
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Attention to detail and deadlines
  • High level of energy and drive to achieve business outcomes
  • Customer-focus
  • Confident, mature and approachable style
  • Ability to take initiative and build relationships
