Position Overview:

Responsible for clinical inpatient and outpatient nutrition care. Duties include nutrition assessment, identification of nutrition problems, recommendation and provision of medical nutrition therapy to meet patient's goals.

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES

Screens and assesses all hospital patients, prioritizing according to the Nutrition Screening and Assessment Procedure.

Recommends medical nutrition therapy to physicians, as appropriate for patient’s condition and disease process.

Provides medical nutrition therapy and coordinates nutrition care with Nutrition Services staff, Nursing staff, physicians and therapists.

Provides nutrition education to patient and/or caregiver.

Participates in selection and/or development of patient nutrition education materials.

Participates in patient care rounds.

Participates in department performance improvement activities.

Assess patients, recommend and provide medical nutrition therapy, educates patient/caregiver, handles more complex cases


EDUCATION

Bachelor's Degree

Master's Degree if graduated after 2024


CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE

RD-Registered Dietitian


PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AS TYPICALLY ACQUIRED IN:

Minimum 3 years as Clinical Dietitian or equivalent experience


SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

Current clinical dietitian experience in acute-care hospital required, with generalized medical-surgical experience.

General nutrition principles

Diet therapy for disease states

Nutrition support principles

Education methods

General psychology

Assessment of nutritional status of adult & geriatric patients required.

Assessment of neonates and pediatric populations desired

Ability to read/write/speak English required. Bilingual verbal skills desirable.

Ability to meet established deadlines and multi-task in an environment of frequent interruptions.

Ability to work in self-directed manner, with attention to detail and accuracy required.

Communication skills required for patient education, problem solving, & multidisciplinary team interactions.

Basic computer skills required.

Pay Range is $48.49 to $65.13 / hour

The compensation range may vary based on the geographic location where the position is filled. Total compensation considers multiple factors, including, but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure, certifications, departmental equity, training, and organizational needs.
