Job Summary:

Provides expert leadership in navigating VUMC’s healthcare system to support timely access to healthcare providers and services for VUMC’s affiliated professional sports teams and Vanderbilt University athletes who require consultations across multiple disciplines. Serves as the point of contact for the team’s medical staff and VUMC healthcare service lines. Requires the ability to network and build relationships with VUMC affiliated professional and collegiate medical staffs and a variety of medical services lines throughout VUMC. Collaborates with Orthopedic department leadership to ensure departmental goals/objectives are being met. Requires working outside of normal business hours.

About the Role

Vanderbilt Health is expanding its world-class sports medicine services to support a rapidly growing portfolio of professional sports partnerships—including the Tennessee Titans, Nashville Predators, Nashville SC, and Vanderbilt University Athletics. As demand increases across these high‑performance environments, we are seeking a Clinical Coordinator, Sports Medicine to lead the coordination and navigation of care for elite athletes.

In this role, you will provide concierge-level clinical coordination, functioning as the central communication hub between athletic training staffs, VUMC service lines, and departmental leadership. Ideal candidates bring a strong foundation in athletic training or sports medicine paired with exceptional relationship-building and communication skills. This is a unique opportunity to work in fast‑paced, high‑stakes environments where your ability to anticipate needs, protect confidentiality, and maintain seamless continuity of care directly supports athlete performance and team success.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary liaison between Vanderbilt Health, affiliated professional sports teams, and Vanderbilt University Athletics.

• Deliver high-level coordination of care, ensuring expedited referrals, specialist appointments, and imaging access.

• Maintain expert knowledge of partnership service contracts.

• Develop and manage Standard Operating Procedures for team physicals, event coverage, physician availability pathways, and imaging workflows.

• Coordinate and execute pre-season physical examinations for professional and collegiate teams.

• Organize and support special event medical coverage.

• Maintain the master calendar of team schedules, coverage assignments, provider availability, and clinical touchpoints.

• Conduct regular partnership meetings with athletic trainers, team physicians, and internal VUMC departments.

• Build and maintain strong relationships with Orthopaedics, Primary Care Sports Medicine, Imaging, Rehabilitation, and specialty service lines.

• Partner with Orthopaedics leadership to support strategic planning and departmental goals.

• Support urgent or time-sensitive athlete needs outside of standard business hours.

• Additional responsibilities as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Athletic Training, Sports Medicine, or related field

• BOC certification preferred

• Experience supporting professional, collegiate, or elite-level athletes

• Strong communication, relationship-building, and problem‑solving skills

• Experience collaborating across multiple clinical service lines
